@Minasodrom: By your own saying, you agree with me that botw is overrated since I disagree with 'critics' giving it a 10 and people suggesting that it's the game of the century. Then I just need to resist that kind of silly thinking by giving proper feedback.

I did underline the strengths of botw and compared comparable aspacts with horizon. If botw didn't have it's own appeal I would never give it a 9- since clearly the game has it's charm and is geared towards our curiosity to explore. That is also something I like, but to an extend, at some point the game lacks punch if you know what I mean, despite that it keeps challenging. Horizons main thread is it's mystery and it's engaging combat. Exploration is nowhere near as vast as in botw, so that trait is a huge difference. Another fact is that Link(s world) has it's charm and established world. That carries a lot of weight, especially with the nice fanservice in the game. It adds to the emotion and happy-feeling we all got from playing zelda games. I personally started the game with the launch of the Nintendo 8-bit.

Every game and especially games like Journey and other non mainstream game should be rated for what the game tries to convey so they get what they deserve for the right reasons. It's just that both horizon and botw are both open world games so comparisons will always be made despite that they put emphasis on different gamestyles. This botw-is-best-game-of-all-times sentiment is getting overboard.

@Minasodrom: Listen, just because I have a different view doesn't mean I haven't played both games. It makes you look very ignorance, so no you are wrong, try playing a different card or come to your senses.

the difference between you and me is that you're a fanboy and I'm a critic (= appraising games with dispassion, looking at strengths and weaknesses even if mechanics do not appeal to my taste. This means I look at the core of it, not the sentiment)

There definately is a lot more to do in botw and that's where it's emphasis is. That does not equal quality. We can both agree that the story of botw is nothing to write home about. The bossfights are a little generic and the last bosses were quite disappointing, especially the last of the last. I did have framerateissues on my tv which can be annoying and seems to be less present in handheld mode. It's a minor issue, but an issue nonetheless.

I can appreciate exploring to an extend and the mechanics and physics of the game, but it doesn't blow my mind. Crafting is also underused while I feel they overdid it on the low durability on gear. The npc's were ok, but again nothing mindblowing. Just an impression where the game stands on terms of negative points. Horizon and botw aren't that comparable, but when you do, certain aspects botw wins and others horizon (like combat, story and graphics/technical issues).

@Prats1993: Zelda is the most overrated game of the century. That doesnt mean I dont rate it, but it definately is overrated de to nostalgia. Horizon is the better game.

@DIOSNY: It's not my own opinion. It's shared by non fanboys who actually can see the flaws of the game. And even critics are human, they make mistakes or can be binded by nostalgia.

@DIOSNY: The following makes me laugh so hard:

"listen I'm not saying HZD is not a good game but let's be real Zelda has a legacy it goes beyond gaming people know what Zelda is,the general public has no idea wtf HZD is that's my point. Let's see if HRZ has lasting appeal before we start putting it on the same sentence as Zelda that's all."

FANBOY MUCH? Hahaha.. The quality of a game is NOT determined by nostalgia and if it is, then there is very little objectivity involved when rating it, hence rendering the opinion as void. You look at a game that stands on it's own feet. You don't give it extra points just for being a zelda game. Do you understand how retarded that sounds?

On the other hand, the nostalgia factor is probably why botw got so many 10's. It's almost as if the critics were predetermined to declare botw their winner even before the game was released.

@DIOSNY: I am really sorry but Horizon Zero Dawn is the better game when you take into account the following: story, graphics (including framerates), gameplay.

Story: Even Nintendo fanboys were disappointed with the rather weak story while others weren't expecting a surprisingly good story in Horizon.

Gameplay: Combat is clunky in BOTW and people are complaining about the extreme low durability of weapons. Not to mention the dumbed down combat system (multiattack with one button). While Horizon's combat is probably on par with MGSV (best combat till now).

Graphics: Sure, the graphics of botw are nice, though it's of specific taste. Yet it's suffering from framerate issues, especially on the wii u. Horizon on the other hand is arguably the best looking game to date with very little technical issues. Smooth gameplay counts as an important factor to enjoy the game.

Now botw is a larger but more empty in the sense that it does not feel like an organic world like Horizon. Contentwise botw ofcourse has lots more to do, but people also complain that there are only 4 dungeons. Horizon is a far shorter game (around 50 max) but is cohesive and has a superior presentation: from the prologue (around 2 hours) to the npc's that you actually like and dislike (characterwise). Botw does not provoke that much emotion.

@legendaryh1tman: I'd have Horizon zero dawns gameplay mechanics over wither 3's any day of the week. Come on.. you're comparing this dynamic gameplay with withers's lethargic hack and slash with the occasional spell? It's not even a contest.

@Andyf1ghter: Ah the old 'selling your opinion as fact' method. You indeed should feel awkward, but not for the reason you mentioned :)
