for what the elite offers xtra the 100$ is a rip-off but if u really want it black then go for it

Except not really. Separate HDMI Cable is additional $50 (if you get Monster, it's even more) and you get double the space for $50.

I have just aquired a new 360, and in the package it says that I can get 1 month free xbox live gold which is great. However I already have a gamercard which I set up ages ago, is there a way where I can get 1 month free on that account seeming as I have just bought the 360? Thanks!crowd_surfer100
Quote is from xbox.com
Q: I am already an Xbox Live member. Can I use the one-month free trial offer to renew my membership?
A: No. The one-month free trial card can only be used to create new Xbox Live accounts, not to renew existing accounts.
So a couple of weeks ago my good old pal the 360 kind of decided to start scratching my DVDs just like a DJ. That's when I tought, "Hey I think it's time to get a new one!" So today I bought an arcade 360. I went home eager to plug it in for a long-waited Halogame. I went trough the menus for installing and all that when: (In october that is, I don't think this has ever occured in Sweden at this time of year) Lightning "shikabowkawazwoosh" and ........RROD :D Yippie! I tried restarting it twice but got the infamous red lights in my face. I then go to scream all of the curse words ther is. Then I went back and restarted it and: It WORKED! Ii healed itself! It's a miracle, for all people out there with dead 360's, there is always hope. Believe.(not in God that is)(no offence people who actually believe in gods and stuff)
Also sorry if my english sucks but I'm Swedish.

Good for you dude! :-)
Wow I played Halo 3 around 6 PM EST. and the opponents cheated by forcing one player to lag horrible. Eventually they lagged us out but they were a little to late because we had the lead and one player remained in the game. After the game a player threatened to kill my friend's internet connection and he actually did!
He fried his hi-speed internet modem and then my friend called me and told me that Comcast said his modem burnt out. Since those hackers were in the party I asked if they did do that to his connection and the person admitted it then said to me, "I'm gunna do the say to you know for asking questions... but for you AgileNate, I will be nice and only shut you off for 6 hours.... so good bye"
Off went my internet connection(not just Xbox Live) my modem lights flashed. Both Comcast and Xbox Live support had no answers, I was SHOCKED at how dumbfounded Xbox Live Support was. Luckily for me the connection was only lost for 3 hrs(instead of 6) but my friend had to replace both his modem and splitters connected to the main feed in his house.AgileNate
LOL!
This is one of the most ridiculous stories I have ever heard.
Q: Do you think that third party fans like the Nyko Intercooler will make things worse? I dont know.
Really? Microsoft themselves says that using these intercoolers voids the warrenty because they use the 360s power supply to run. Causing the 360 to use more power and run hotter. In essense causing the system to overheat faster. You would think someone working for the company who like i said before, knows so much apparently about this issue, would know this. Excuse me if i dont take this guy seriously.
DZBricktop
Actually, Nyko was being cited for the opposite reason.
POWER SUPPLY => NYKO -> X360
Because it was placed between X360 and its power supply, there were speculations that Nyko's three fans were consuming too much power so that there was not enough left for the poor console. Accumulated over time, effect of this scenario would eventually cause X360 to fail.
The convenience of that design was that it would turn fans on and off automatically, with the console. That is why MS went on to recommend cooling solutions with external (usually: USB) power. Pelican used to make console stand with fan built in the base. It was powered through the USB but it had on/off switch because X360 does not terminate the power throught the USB when it is turned off (so that you can charge your controllers when you're not playing, but it also keeps the Pelican fan working).
[QUOTE="DopeyDavoid"]Hdmi or component? I believe i does that with component.killerfistI believe so too. Most movies on DVD are 480p so the 360 auto displays it at that resolution. could be wrong tho.
You're not. The best you can get from the DVD (without upscaling) is 480p.
Just to add that connecting SD device (such as DVD) to the HDTV with HDMI cables does not upscale the quality. HDMI cables simply have larger bandwidth which is required for HD (more pixels, more bandwidth). In other words, HDMI cable is just wider pipe and does not change the quality of the stuff flowing through it.
I think I will im just wondering if its true about the new cells/proccessors etc
TROUTKILLA
My educated guess would be that the guts are the same as in the other ones. It definitely wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to put newer/better stuff in the low-end model and not in the expensive one. I have always thought that all of those models are the same inside, it's just the accessories (hdd being the biggest) that make up the price difference.
So, in your case, I would guess that you're going to get the same mobo/cpu as when you buy the new 60 gig Pro model.
Okay let's assume you have an original Xbox game. In this example, I'll use Dreamfall. Since this game is also on the marketplace, is it possible to download the game to your HDD with the disc in the drive without having to pay for it? I'd like to do this for faster loading and to avoid having to pop the disc in and out. I kind of doubt it's possible, but it's worth asking.Meleeboy
I don't think that the whole XBL (including marketplace) is that "sophisticated". The algorithm seems to be more like "Find -> Pay -> Download", no if/then.
Can I use this monitor to play Xbox 360? What additional items would I need to buy?

Yes, you can.
You will need this VGA Cable.
Ok my friend keeps trying to convince me to buy a 360, Oblivion and Assassins Creed. I've heard a few bad remarks to both games, but I still dont know what to think yet. Do any of you think that they are worth buying ? I'm just asking because I'm going to buy a 360 soon and dont know what games I should get for it.LordDPaladin
You can always start by reading reviews here on the site. That should definitely give you an insight about games.
As for the Oblivion, if you like RPGs, this is like the granddaddy. Just be prepared to sacrifice _a lot_ of time playing it because it is big! I loved it.
Assassin's Creed was also a good game. It got a little bit too repetitive for my taste, but it was still good. Ending was very weird though.
