Update: Virtual Boy, Wii U, Injustice, Bit.Trip Runner, Paper Mario, and more

So it's been a VERY long time since I've posted an update. Figured I'd post what I've been up to in the gaming world.

First off, I just purchased a Virtual Boy and I couldn't be happier. Found one for a good price on eBay and bought a few essential games such as a Wario Land and Mario's Tennis as well. It hasn't arrived yet but I can't wait to try the most obscure system Nintendo ever put out (it's a great collectors item as well).

A month ago I also received the Wii U as a gift (deluxe edition) with Nintendo Land and New Super Mario Bros U. This console is awesome and I can't wait for what it's future holds.

Recently purchased Paper Mario: Sticker Star and reserved the Collector's Edition of Injustice: Gods zamong Us for the PS3. Paper Mario is awesome but definitely the worst in the series IMO, but since ingot the digital version I also got a free download for Donkey Kong Orginal Edition which is cool. Cant wait for Injustice since I'm a huge Mortal Kombat fan.

In Club Nintendo news, I recently got enough points to a) redeem for Game & Watch Collection 2 (already got the first one a while ago) and b) become a platinum member for the year. Hooray!

Lastly, I'll report on what I've been playing lately. II recent,y came back to Advent Rising on the Xbox and beat it. Also beat BanJo kazooie on the 360. Ivebbeen playing a lot of Tony Hawks Pro Skater HD (also got the dlc), Halo 4, Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse for Ps3 and Somic All Stars Racing transformed for 360 (got both as a gift recently). Just purchased Jet Grind Radio for the Vita and Nights into Dreams for the PS3. Beat Bit.Trip Runner today (one of the hardest games I've ever played), beat Super Mario Galaxy a week ago (well, not with Luigi yet), have been playing A LOt of Prinice of Persia Retro for my iPad and iPhone (recent purchases I also made...really cool devices), started playing Resident Evil Archives on the Wii (AMAZING game so far), anddd in non video gaming news I purchased the avengers and Xmen guides for the Marvel Universe tabletop Roleplaying Game (thus completing my collection). Oh, and in reading news I recently read the Mortal Kombat: Blood & Thunder graphic novel, am reading Ultimate Spider-Man vol 5, finished David Icke's "Truth Vibrations", and am currently reading "Behold a Pale Horse" by William Cooper.

this was all typed very sloppily due to me using my ipad and being in a rush, but there you have my update (well, everything I could think of for now, at least)!

Just bought an NES!

Just bought a used NES system from a local Play N' Trade store in my area for only $35! Came with 2 controllers, A/V cables, and an RF converter. Thought it was a great find, wanted to post.

Just purchased a Dreamcast!

So after years of wanting one, I finally used the handy resource of eBay to purchase my very own used Dreamcast system! I got 3 games with it as well, where were Mortal Kombat Gold (since I'm a huge Mortal Kombat fan and this is the only game I don't have besides some variant versions of games for hardcore collectors), Jet Grind Radio, and Shenmue. I figured I wanted to start off with 3 games that are worth getting a Dreamcast for IMO, and that weren't already rereleased on another system or remade (this crossed off games like Sonic Adventure, which I already have for GameCube; Soul Calibur, which I already have on Xbox 360 Arcade; and Phantasy Star Online, which has newer versions on Xbox and GameCube), so that is why I chose those games. It is the only 6th generation console I've never owned, so I'm pretty excited.

Got my DC Universe Online Collector's Edition!

So I picked up my Collector's Edition version of DC Universe Online for the PS3 today, and was told I was the only person in the store who pre-ordered the Collector's Edition for either PS3 or PC (HA!). After opening the beautiful package I realized this was by far the most impressive Collector's Edition set I've seen for any game I've purchased. Included was a Batman statue from DC Direct that is gorgeous, two comic books (Legends issue #0 and a graphic of the backstory to the game), a poster of Jim Lee's cover art to Legends #0, two in-game weapons, the GameStop exclusive items, and then finally the actual game disk in a special artwork casing. The whole thing together was well worth the money ($100), as the statue itself could run at least $60.

I already played the beta for about a month and loved it, so I'm expecting the full game to be that and better (I'm waiting for the installation to finish right now). It comes with a 30-day free subscription so I plan on taking full advantage of that, and limit my game playing down to only this and Halo pretty much right now.

I already highly recommend this game to anyone who has a PS3 or PC and loves comics and/or superheroes. I'm already a DC fan and read a lot of comics so this game is one huge orgasm for me.

In other news, I will be stopping by Gamestop next week and then again 2 weeks after to receive a shiny Entei and Suicune for Pokemoon HeartGold (I already missed Reikou). I haven't played HeartGold in a long time but it's still worth it to get these event pokemon while theyre being given out for free. Also, I will stop by before Valentine's Day to reserve the Nintendo 3DS as I simply cannot pass that up.

Getting new Xbox 360!! And reserved new Mortal Kombat and Zelda

So I just got my PS3, and now I'm getting the new 250gb Xbox 360 with built-in wifi! I ordered it off gamestop.com with overnight shipping, so I should get it by Thursday. Now I'll have all 3 current-gen systems. I also went to my local gamestop today to get everything I need and want for it by the time it arrives. I got a 1-year subscription to Xbox Live Gold, a 1600 Xbox point card, an HDMI cable, and a bunch of games (check what I just added to my collection for Xbox 360 on my gamespot profile).

I also reserved the new Mortal Kombat game for the PS3, and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for the Wii.

I'm getting a backwards compatible PS3!!

So in about in hour I'm going to a local GameStop to get a 60gb PS3 (the one that's backwards compatible)! I've been wanting this for a long time, and I finally have enough money. Along with it, I'm going to get Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, Grand Theft Auto IV, Grand Theft Auto IV: Episodes From Liberty City, Tony Hawk's Project 8, Tony Hawk's Proving Ground, and Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition. I'm also going to download Mortal Kombat II, Prince of Persia Classic, and Call of Duty Classic when I get home. I already ordered a Dualshock 3 controller from Amazon in case it doesn't come with one (and if it does I'll have an extra), as well as HDMI cables and a Memory Card adapter for PS1/PS2 cards. Overall, I'm pretty psyched.

Completed Pokedex - 151 Pokemon in Pokemon Red!

Well it only took over 40 hours of gameplay, and over a year of stopping and playing Pokemon Red, but I've finally completed my Pokedex! I traded the last few pokemon I needed over from my Yellow version, and it felt very accomplishing. It's ashame there's no big in-game reward, though; all you get is a crummy certificate saying you completed your pokedex. Oh well, though, it was fun. I intend to do the same in all the Pokemon games I have as I'll be working on Blue next and am already working on HeartGold.

Pokemon Heart Gold is incredible!! So nostalgic and addicting!!

I have always been a pokemon fan, but I stopped playing really after the Gold/Silver era. I had Sapphire, but never got far and stopped playing. Because Gold is one of my favorite games of all time, I HAD to get this remake. I had it reserved for several months now, and it was well worth the wait. This game alone has gotten me back into pokemon big time, and now I plan to get all the past ones I don't have. I'm also looking forward to the 5th generation games coming out later this year.\

But anyway, just wanted to say how incredible this game is. If you liked Gold/Silver and you played it as a kid, this will bring back a lot of memories and will be very nostalgic. It's also very new and has things in it that keep it fresh. The online also adds a whole other layer to it. Expect a full review sometime soon, but in the meantime I highly recommend it!

PSP Digital Comics are awesome!

So recently I bought LittleBigPlanet for the PSP, and since I had custom firmware (I had a hacked PSP) it was impossible for me to connect online in the game to download and upload levels. This is a major portion of the game, and seeing that I would be restricted from accessing many features in future games, I decided to finally update to official firmware and leave the hacking world behind me. This was a hard decision, but it was a pain in the butt to miss out on some cool official features that I would never be able to access with a hacked PSP.

So once I updated, I got many new features I didn't even know about, including the Digital Comics reader. This thing is awesome! It's one of the coolest ways to read comics IMO, if not the best. All other digital options that are available right now I don't like as much as this. The only other options I can think of are Marvel's subscription service, which I don't like because you have to read the comics online, numerous apps for the iPhone, and reading them illegally with a .cbr reader. There's also an app coming out for computers and gaming systems called LongBox that actually looks really promising, but that's not out yet. So to me, the PSP's Digital Comics reader is the best because it's official, you can DOWNLOAD the issues instead of reading them online, the comics are cheaper than their physical counterparts (most are $.99 or $1.99, with rarer ones being $2.99), AND it's portable!

The PSP screen is perfect for reading comics because of it's size, and the AutoFlow feature is what really gets me. It makes it really easy to read the comics and go from one panel to the next, with the perfect zooming ranges so you can read and see everything that's going on. The shop where you buy the comics from is also impressive and easy to use, with a steady catalog at the moment, which is only going to increase as the weeks go on (it was JUST released).

The future of this app looks promising, and I'll definitely be buying new comics on here, as it's easier and cheaper than buying them from a store. I already bought the entire Annihilation series for just under $12, as well as downloading all 18 free comics that are available at the moment. So I have 24 comics right now, and I LOVEEEE PSP Digital Comics. I definitely recommend it to everyone.
