Honestly I think that's why I thought initially I thought it looked dated. I JUST beat ME2, so coming from that a lot of stuff pales.

I'm willing to give it another try. I think it's a combination of having not played any Metal Gear games besides the first two NES ones and all the overwhelming hype and perfect ten reviews that gave me unreasonable expectations.
I got to try the demo for MGS4 recently, and granted I didn't have much hands on time but the first thing that struck me was it looked and controlled in a really dated way. I also notice that no one talks about it much. Is it one of those games that seemed amazing when it came out but time went by and and it's lost its charm? Just wondering, not that it's very expensive now, but I was thinking of getting it but I want to make sure it still holds up.
60fps. I'm playing the GoW collection right now and the graphics are so sub par compared to so much stuff but the game just looks better than most current games because it runs at 60fps. This is why people STILL PLAY World of Warcraft -- it doesn't really matter how detailed the graphics are, 60fps keeps you believing.
Hopefully everything some day will run at 60fps.
I wound up getting suckered into pre-ordering, but if I heard right (and you know how fast GS employees talk) I get the money back if I don't like. Which, unfortunately, I don't. I will say this: Wii got their hardcore game. Which is cool, but my biggest problem is it looks like crapola on my HDTV. It has its charms -- I was total Capcom kid growing (espesh their late 80s early 90s arcade games) and it's got some of that vibe, but it's jsut too late for me to go back from HD gaming.
I'm going through demos now. MGS4 was awkward and the graphics seemed a bit dated, KZ2 didn't grab me at all and felt generic, Heavy Rain seems really amazing if I can get used to the weird control scheme, but UC2 sealed the deal: that thing is the best looking console game I've ever seen. All in all I think I'm just having trouble getting used to the PS3 interface with all the menus and the controller itself which takes a while getting used to after years with the 360 controller. I'm still on the fence -- I MIGHT sell the system. We'll see...I do want to love it.
I just picked up a PS3 -- been playing through the demos available, so far I can't find a single game that really blows me away, (different topic for a different thread), but I was surprised how undewhelmed I was by the Killzone 2 demo. Granted, it's just a demo, but as far as graphics king of shooters, I don't know. Honestly, the shooting in ME2 felt more satisfying and looked better, and that's an RPG. None of the combat had that "satisfying" feel of a good shooter, all the enemies looked the same, and the whole tone just felt like a Gears rip-off.
Am I missing something? The graphics seemed above average, nothing mind-blowing.
Just got a new PS3, fooled around with it -- seems that it plays games in surround sound but a dvd only plays in 2 channel? My reciever is hooked up with HDMI into the TV and the PS3 has HDMI going into that.
It's NOT the receiver's problem because my 360 plays games AND DVDs in surround. But the PS3 won't! I've tried "checking off" all the sound options except 5:1 dolby and I've tried checking them all - neither works.
Help!
Ah well, I just wound up ordering it on Amazon. Can't wait!
