I just looked into this. So it looks like the Netflix streams are in HD and the future Zune stuff will be in 1080p. So really -- there may not even be a need to EVER get a Blu Ray player. Go Xbox! Now one last question, for Xbox -- can I just use any cheap old 5 dollar HDMI cables to get that good image?

Yeah the TV is 1080p. Are the Netflix "watch instantly" movies in 720 at least?

It won't give out a good picture? It's blurry? What's wrong with it?

I just got my new 32" HDTV and now I need something to watch DVDs on. I'm going to be getting a 360 but I'm wondering if the DVD player is good or should I get a separate one. My old DVD player looks like garbage on the new TV.

Here's a related question, regarding the HDMI cable. If the television was only 720p would that mean the HDMI cable is useless and I would just use the regular cables? Or would the HDMI cable still boost the quality (lets say this is on a 720 / 32" -- I really do think I'm getting that samsung)

Funny, that's the one I was looking at! Even cheaper on Amazon, almost so cheap that I started getting confident with my cash and started eyeing up the 37" model. I should probably save that cash though for the HDMI cable for the Xbox though, and a new game...

Finally in the market to get an LCD TV and like any noob in the TV market I'm overwhelmed. I know a few things: one, my GF is NOT into TVs and has forbid me from getting some kind of huge monstrosity that takes up the whole living room (which isn't big anyway -- our couch is about 8 or 9 feet from the current crappy TV). Two: I don't have a fortune to spend and would prefer to keep the price well under 1000. Three: I'll eventually be getting a Blu-Ray player when one comes out. I've been eyeing up the 32" from Samnsung -- if its true that 1080p doesn't matter than I can go with the 720 version and it'd be just about 500 some dollars -- which I can afford easily! But I worry that Blu-Ray won't look good on this...or possibly Xbox games down the line. Well -- thoughts are welcome, thanks!
