seriously though money was or is coming out of someones pocket to keep quake 3 in game master server running.

funny games been around since 1999, they might of took master server offline, but damn they left it running alongtime.

Im going to check, but i bet you anything the quake 3 arena in game server browsers master server is still functioning/listing hosted servers in game.

people are actually paying to run quake 3 master server, yet it's still free? LOL

lol pc games never die atleast the real ones, people will play quake 2 online for aslong as it's still fun to them.

pc gaming has the best online set up that's a fact.

xbox live server's go offline bam no online play son.

pc game master servers go offline i can still play if i know my favorite dedicated servers ip address.

see pc games dev's only host the master servers which is the in game server/game list that shows you all the games in progress, even if dev's shut down master server you can still play online if you know the ip addresses of the dedicated servers running, just the server list wont work.

pc games the servers are hosted by end users.

the way pc is is set up the game dev host a master server that gathers all the games people host and put's it in a list for you to view and join.

the servers themselves are hosted by people at home unless they paying for company to run dedicated server for their clan or something.
