Seriously guys, I think we all know this now but I am just making sure. Hopefully everyone knows that it is time to start considering the 360 as a current gen console, on par with the Playstation 2, Xbox, and Gamecube. The reason I say this is because 360 is consistently delivering lackluster titles with shoddy graphics in my opinion. Nothing is going right with the console...it's overheating, burning down houses and so on.

It's just a failure and we all know it. Maybe Halo 3 can spark some life into the dead console, but as for now, it is time to start considering the 360 as a current gen console. The real next gen starts when the Playstation 3 has been released. Rev is also a next gen console, but 360 is definitely not. Sorry lemmings, but it's the sad truth.

Dreamcast is (was?) a current-gen console.

Xbox 360 is next-gen.  Sorry, but no console manufacturer has ever released two completely different consoles within the same generation.  Even if the games aren't next-gen yet, that doesn't mean the console itself isn't.

One problem with comparing Xbox 360 screens with screens from other consoles is the fact that the games on Xbox 360 are high-definition.  I think a lot of people confuse "sharper looking" with "better looking".

I agree that Xbox 360 puts out some excellent graphics, and we've only seen the tip of the iceburg.  I think the problem lies in the fact that we've become spoiled with the idea of always getting a huge leap in graphics from one console generation to the next, and now that the leap isn't quite as huge, people are disappointed.  It's a shame.

I haven’t played Civilization IV, but I have played Resident Evil 4, as well as many of the other games being named in this thread.  I agree with many of the posters that these are some great games (isn’t it a great time to be a gamer?), but God of War is the only game I can remember playing in recent memory where I actually felt immersed in the game.  It was a visceral experience for me, and the grandiosity of it all redefined for me what an action/slashing game could be.

That, and it was just pure fun.
