The only thing articles like this one prove is that developers must stop representing women in their games. There is no way to represent women properly in games without upsetting certain feminist aspects. The last of us does a great job at portraying a story with enthralling characters, none of which are portraying problematic gender roles. I am a vehement feminist, and articles like this show me that some people really don't care about women's rights, and simply want to find controversy where there is none. It's sad that Carolyn feels like she needs to target games like TLOU that are undeserving of this criticism, but so often games out of japan are ignored and praised for their backwards objectification of women. Not to mention that some of the arguments made in this piece don't hold up to the actual product, such as the idea that the entire game is Joel's story all the way through.
@ryan0991 @gungrave45 Never said it didnt feel like Halo. I was just extremely disappointed. All of bungie's games including Reach are far better IMO. Halo 4 felt like the most basic, vanilla, unambitious halo games ever.
@Smokescreened84 @JJB03 @gungrave45 Your simply objectively wrong on that point. There is plenty of variety in the fps genre. (bioshock infinite, deus ex HR, Metro 2033.)
@Smokescreened84 @gungrave45 I think this is highly irrational. There are many fps games that come out and are wildly different, from Metro to Bioshock to Arma, there is plenty of room for differentiation.
