long as his laptop is getting an internet connection nothing else matters, big pond little pond i don't see how it matters.  anyways until he provides more information about what he has actually tried and the actual settings he put in i really wouldn't waste anymore of your time.

he's gotta put a bit of effort into this to for it to work.  lol i mean come on he said he's been trying for a year to get it to work....just think about that for a second lolz.

looks like you need to try to get this: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=971561 to work with your ps3.Should work, but you obviously have to use the ps3 connection manager instead of the control panel stuff. So set your ps3 to use static ip 192.168.0.2 ,subnet mask 255.255.255.0 ,and gateway 192.168.0.1 ,then proxy setting to yes and input that proxy( 192.168.0.2 ,port 1080 or 192.168.0.2:1080 ,then dns should be 192.168.0.1.and set the pcs lan to the settings they said-'you need to do these steps in the LAN connection, which should be an icon next to your bigpond icon. Control panel, network connections, Local area connection. Right click it, properties, scroll down to tcp/ip, left click to highlight, click the properties button'with ip address 192.168.0.1,subnet mask 255.255.255.0,and the proxy setting. Then do the bigpond wireless icon sharing he said.see if it works

http://www.ps3chat.com/playstation-3-online/1383-getting-ps3-online-using-internet-connection-sharing-ics.html more reading, sorry i cant be more help, but i dont use windows (or ics) anymore,so i cant remember, although the limited connectivity thing reminds me of something,i sounds like the connection isnt set to share properly.did you try just setting the ps3s: ip to 192.168.0.2 gateway to 192.168.0.1 and subnet mask to 255.255.255.0 ?and makke sure the wireless connection on your pc is set to share(right click on the wireless connections icon in network connections control panel, and select share or bridge, then select the lan port to share to and such

try to be defensive instead of offensive and youll improve quicker.if you rush in youll get stompedwait for them screw so you can learn theyre style.and the moves will come back to you(plus they tweaked them a bit to be easier to pull sometimes, although if you use the same old motions it should still work, just made for people who never really played as much.so once you get used to that youll be in business)
