@evernessince: Nowhere in any breakdown of this story does it say the "party just suddenly forgets." They've offered no narrative explanation yet. But there are actually a few points in the original story that could easily explain it, ie, a certain Materia Thief, or Mideel. Or practically anything dealing with the Lifestream or the heaping tons of amnesia and memory suppression that are key aspects of the story.
