[QUOTE="hellhund"] Why would you expect them to? Backwards compatibility has always been a iffy thing, and its too expensive most of the time any more. It'd be nice, but there's no reason to actually think they will.Truth_Hurts_U

Only reason 360 didn't have full BC was because of Intel and Nvidia owned the rights to the chips. MS didn't want to buy them at expensive prices. So they ended up programing some games to be BC.

So this time around MS made sure they own the rights to the chips. So we can expect them to work something out next gen for BC. Will be great if they stick to what they said and give us BC.

Artical from 2008 talking about BC, Gears 3 and 2012 launch.

Artical from 2009 talking about the ATI GPU, BC and 2012 launch.

Neither of those really makes me think that Microsoft will actively support BC, any more than they have this gen. I think they'll only include BC if the price point for the new console is sufficiently high that people hesistate to adopt it (i.e. PS3). BC doesn't really generate any revenue and can cost a considerable amount of money.

Awesome, thanks for that. Good to see that the NCR will be having a huge presence in the game, and the reappearance of the Followers of the Apocalypse might prove to be really interesting.

I hope knowledge of the previous non-Bethesda Fallout games isn't necessary for enjoyment. Fallout 1 & 2 just looked dull.

Three companies would normally be unsustainable (i.e. colossal failure that was Gamecube), but the Wii has managed to different enough and appealling enough to stomp the other two companies. This made it easier for people to justify owning multiple consoles, instead of latching onto a single one. If the next generation has three consoles as similiar as I expect, one of the companies is going to tank. It'll be three similiar consoles with motion controls.

Colossal failure that was Gamecube? It was only 2 million behind the Xbox in sales:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/6th_generation_consoles#Worldwide_sales_standings

And three companies are normally sustainable. There has never been fewer than three companies competing at any given time.

And the numbers would've been worse if not for the extra million sold dirt cheap once they stopped being manufactured. You could pick them up for pocket change.

Thanks everyone. I have netflix on wii and am extremely happy with it, but I am considering a ps3 also (to use on a second tv) and just wanted to know if a ps3 would be okay or should I buy another wii for the kids to play in their room.

For what its worth, you can always stream it on your PC too. The 360, PS3 and Wii Netflix services are all equally solid and a great value. The selection's pretty good and there's a lot of interesting gems out there that you may have missed out on. King of Kong, Timer, Better Off Ted, and Dead Like Me all come to mind.

[QUOTE="Shinobishyguy"]so is anyone here NOT gonna do a hardcore run first time through? Or am I the only one?

I doubt I will. I probably won't do a hardcore run at all. I'd rather not worry about the weight of my ammo. If wanted to do that, I could've gotten the mods to do that.

[QUOTE="kuraimen"][QUOTE="-Snooze-"]

It's an FPS ... A very shooty FPS.

Does Killzone have a good story? Infact, what FPS does? Only the odd shooters like Bioshock.

-Snooze-

Then those are the ones which should be getting the high scores.

Obviously Story isn't important in a lot of games. Mario seems to do well with no story.

Actually, I thought the little storytime things in SMG were quite touching.

Oh god dont let it be an MMO. Please dont let it be an MMO. Please dont let it be an MMO that Activision has control over. Please dont let it be an MMO period.

erglesmergle

I could easily see Activision showering Bungie with cash to come do a MMO. They'll probably call it Mahalo, and you're a space soldier fighting off an alien invasion. Using a Guitar Hero controller. And a DJ Hero table. And any other add-on Activision has laying around. Maybe you have to stand on a Tony Hawk Ride board to move, shoot with a Guitar Hero controller, and activate your armor bonuses by doing a minigame with the DJ Hero set, all while paying an additional $15 a month!

Dont forget, you'll also need the activation code that comes only in the Modern Warfare 3 box to access your quest list.

No, MW3 acts as a decoder ring. You have to put it on your finger and spin it to read your one-time-use code, which enables you to play for three months! (Gold and monthly subscription fees not included).

I get very few games on my PS3... Only exclusives.

Everything else goes to my Xbox. My hope is that MS is going to fuly support all 360 games on their new console.
