Really really good reviews would be what Red Dead Redemption was getting from critics. However, I guess you could say Mercury Steam is making a name for themselves like Rocksteady Studios.

The game looks fine with the gameplay , why not just use that?

The sad thing is...that it's not a bullshot, the game actually looks that good.

Have you seen the new Visual effects trailer showing off the snow and the rain?

Here it is it you haven't seen it, the visuals are phenominal.

It looks amazing for a console game, but there's still an IQ gap between the footage and the bullshot.

In 2D mode it scales up from 1280x1080 based off Prologue.

Gears 3 has actually improved substantially since the last installment tech-wise. Post process improvements, real-time shadows, volumetric lighting, etc. Nevertheless, remember all those threads about ground up engines? How Halo: Reach was going to blow away this and that? Odd how some are running back to UE now.

On a serious note, money spent on tech showcases like GT5 and God of War 3 probably levels out with the priority MS places on exclusive ad deals, DLC, time exclusive windows, ad campaigns, etc.
