Hardcore damage control, still clinging to a 3 year old game, that's how strong the 360's been rolling

Mestitia

Well to be fair, the response thread is clinging as far back as 1997.

If it's anything like the first there's no way it'll be drawing environment that large and that detailed with that kind of draw distance. Ninja-Hippo

Hm? The LoD in that GT footage is way too aggressive. The draw distance is more Infamous than let's say RDR.

i bet GG and ND is reading this forum. they will do something about Rico. Please don't make a story where Rico is kidnapped by helghast and we have to go save is blackazz. i will not buy the game if that happens. I hope they introduce new and better looking characters. To be honest... the ISA team all look like weak and lame soldiers. those soldiers are forgettable. at least in UC2 the characters were memoriable. i think they will bring comedy and story to this next one. helghast on the other hand are interesting. i want them to add a bit of scars and dried blood on the helghast face. they got ownz by ISA in killzone 2. this time around they should come back looking all banged up with full vengeance. iwasgood2u

I hope you're up for saving
Captain Narville
instead.

Any practical 3D experience will require glasses if you want to have more than one viewer at a time and a viewing angle that's more than 60 degrees.

Absolute bullcrap, completely physically impossible. Even if the game was as linear as Uncharted 2 it couldnt be better looking than Crysis.

Resources are already freed up if you go from a FPS dynamic jungle to open world city. If it was to be as limited as Uncharted 2 that means even more gains. Bigger emphasis on transparencies which equals more onscreen activity. And no nasty illumination artifacts because all you have to worry about is small areas limited in scope.

And that means that what made the Crysis , Crysis not Crysis. going to a linear gameplay and levels destroys the design of the game. And going from a jungle to a city isnt less demanding, its the way they are loading the level/map. they are stream loading the levels now meaning what you do in a section of the map wont be there when you leave and come back and that area gets reset. And even if the game was linear like UC 2 it still wouldnt look as good because the console cant load all the higher resolutions and detailed textures & graphics without going over the console's memory limts.

There's a benefit from the environment change and if scope was limited to that degree there's more to dedicate to something else.

It's a lot less taxing jungle to city. Shadows don't have to be updated for an environment littered with interactive vegetation. Culling can be reduced dramatically. Terrain isn't nearly as expensive. Buildings block your sight line. Additionally, transparencies like haze and fog will limit draw distance.

The amount of what's rendered must've been cut down drastically from Crysis then for consoles to be looking better in any way.
