Should've quoted method for a freestyle instead of an opinion on MW2.

Sequels wouldn't be so bad if everyone was doing it like SMG 2 and LBP 2. Good stuff.

From the videos, alan wake doesn't have the same graphics geometry, nor textures compared to something like final fantasy 13, resident evil 5, uncharted 2 among thieves, banjo kazzoie nuts and bolts, and those games. I am basing this on videos though. The particle effects (fog effects)are amazing, so are the lighting effectsbut there are tons of anti aliasing issues and low res textures though. From screenshots there should be an extra buffering because there is dithering. This is just my analysis. Halo Reach is far superior in terms of technical graphics.Which seems to have great IQ, and really great texture buffers (no dithering effect at all). It also seems to have very little pop-in (which is surprising bcause of no HDD). That is a real technical achievement.

The geometry in FF13 is basic. Objects have flat textures. The game is littered with 2d backdrops. Average with decent post process. Hardly superior to Alan Wake and quite a few others. Reach's AA disables after movement so I'm not sure how it could have great IQ. It's also sub HD. Wake pushes more effects and alpha textures. Has SSAO. 4x AA. Dynamic lighting scheme. I don't see the memory issues and performance issues being that much of an anchor against lesser games given the amount of transparencies until its stacked against things like Resident Evil doing their bullet points at 720p.

I see lots of delusional xbots saying GeoW 2 and Just Cause 2 are on par with what the PS3 has Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, and Heavy Rain. This year claims about SC: Conviction, Alan Fake and Hahoo: Reach will take over the graphix crown the outcome well.. we got 2 sub-hd (with robot facial and movement animations) and 1 good looking game. Now the counter from the lem's "but Crysis 2 and Rage are the best looking games on consoles" but what they fail to realize is that those games are not due till next year and will not look identical. PS3 has shown that it is capable of producing the best visuals the 360 not so much. So my question to the lems is why after all these years do you all think Crysis 2 will look identical to the PS3's version?

Keep in mind while answering that question that Final Fantasy was supposed to look identical as well and look how that turned out.

Halo: Reach also renders at a sub-HD res.

No. The amount of post processing applied is worlds apart.

Heavy Rain flopped too.:? But I agree that PS3 has a better exclusive lineup than the 360 this year. Halo Reach will probably be the only AAA exclusive this year (Crackdown 2 & Alan Wake will both score AA)

No. it has an 87 on metacritic and has some of the most original gameplay ive seen in years. very gritty and suspenseful

it was hyped as AAA, so it technically did flop, but that doesnt mean it is a bad game.

Pretty much. None of those AA games are bad. Heavy Rain and SC are just not as good as others according to critics.

I generally agree with EG reviews, who give it a 7. They have this to say:

Eurogamer

Alan Wake is an accessible, undemanding game with a neat combat mechanic and decent visuals. It's just not a very original game, it's certainly not an exceptional one, and it's a shame it wasn't ready a few years ago.

So much for the ridiculous graphics king claims I guess.

I'm expecting GS to score it an 8.5

PAL360

Out of like 30 reviews out there and you picked up the only one who didnt praise AW´s graphics! Good job :)

Going by every other review, it have incredible graphics.

Anyway, im hyping it AA here now

Destructoid and 1up had their own criticisms.
