I did install 1.4 patch and before i did that i uninstalled the game and reg and reinstalled. Still dont work?

Can someone plz help me! Battlefield 2 has worked fine for ages before i installed a patch. Whenever i install a patch (any patch) i go to play and then BANG! i get an error saying something like "failed to load particles fx" and then loads of numbers and it also says "LOWSPMODEL" aswell. Some1 plz help me tnx
