These god damn glitches

Looking for hidden packages in GTA V. Those underwater packages... And well they will not spawn if I come with diving gear for some reason... Yet it improves my lung capacity. What's up with that?

Wonder if those space parts and letter parts will be equally troublesome.

This is actually quite fun

I know I am late to it, but I am finally spending some time playing GTAV. I really like it so far.

I've found my favourite goofing around thing to do now... Shooting the tires of other vehicles while driving. :P Though it isn't something I should do close to the military base/prisoner or whatever it is.

Also I don't get the police levels here. 3 stars is giving me hell, 4 stars I can outrun on foot. I also wonder how on earth I am going to get 10 million and more for the more expensive places to buy there. Any ideas?

New Computer Case

I've changed my PC case to the LD Cooling V8... A step up in size from the Corsair Obsidian 550D I had before.

  • Mobo: Asus P8Z77-V Pro
    • CPU: 3570K at 4.5GHz
  • 16GB Corsair RAM at 1600MHz
  • GPU 1: Gigabyte G1 GTX 980Ti
  • GPU 2: MSI GTX 680
  • Storage: 2 SSD and 2 HDD
    • Samsung EVO 500GB
    • Intel 330 120GB
    • WD Black 1TB
    • Seagate 3TB

Setting everything in this case wasn't that easy. Mostly because I have very little experience with it. This case really do require a bit of time... As it has no quick disconnect of the side panels what so ever. Screws.. And plenty of them.

The case is excellent for water cooling. I have put in a 480mm thick radiator along with a 360 thin radiator. Plenty of room for more. The case became easier to work with after awhile if that makes any sense. It has 5 3.5 HDD bays as well as 8 other mounting places for SSDs. Sadly taking use of them require new SATA cables on my part. Speaking of SATA cables, EVGA has no idea how to do SATA power cables.

While being a huge case, it lacks everything to prevent dust from coming, and sound from coming out of it. That along with way too many screws to undo before you can do anything in it, are the only negative things I have to say about it. It seems really solid, somewhat heavy, side panel has a nice window and there is a reasonable amount of space for cables on the rear side of the case. 8 spots for SSD outside of the HDD bays is excellent I think. 3 of them are easy to see through the window in the sidepanel as well. Excellent for bragging I guess.

The new PSU I also got before this case is louder than my previous one... So it has me thinking. I will either change the fan in it later and possible also try to sound proof the case. While changing the fan is probably the easiest and quickest thing to do to get the noise level down, I am also being annoyed by the sound HDD makes. I couldn't really hear them in previous case. Dust filters is also needed. I think I am going to get some in early January. Sound proofing it will be a bigger project and cost more as well. But that will require a lot more planning first.

So far I am quite happy with the case, although I see that I can do a much better set-up of my hardware in it. I just can't be bothered to do so now.

With winter coming

Got to prepare for it. Changed the tires on my car on Sunday... Well 3 out 4, missing the rear right one. Still summer one that one... Same dimensions so it won't really affect the driving, but I'll get it changed before I do drive again. Two of the bolts were stuck. And I was tired.

Anyhow what I wanted to say was that the first thing I did after changing the tires was spinning on the little ice we had. It's front wheel drive, automatic with a lousy engine... And I spun on the way to refill fuel. The exact thing I had hoped to prevent by changing tires.

I'm so looking forward to this winter.

This has been a long wait

Still waiting too... I ordered a new case about a month ago... Due to being out of stock, the shop said it would probably take 3 weeks instead of the normal 1-2 days before I get the case. I ordered a new case for my computer. One fricking huge one... So it can room the radiator I currently use, as well as another one that I've bought but yet to connect to my loop. I'm waiting for this new case before I do so.

Anyhow... Apparently the shop has not received a confirmation of their order from their supplier (or whatever this is called)... I'm guessing they sent this in a day or two after I placed my order. God damn it, I'm running out of patience for this.

Batman Arkham Knight

Wow

Got the pc version a few days ago. And damn it is a good looking game! Coming right from Batman Arkham City and the difference is enormous! I see that Arkham Knight is developed for a newer generation of consoles than the two previous games. I'm looking forward to play through it.

On a technical level.. It is running great so far on my system. I think I have most options turned on/ultra. And it supports 3440*1440 res :D

Other gaming news. I was gifted Euro Simulator 2 and it has been a pleasant surprise. Somehow I find it incredibly relaxing to drive around in big trucks across Europe. And I get loads of speeding tickets in that game :P

Thinking about buying a PS4

So.. It would only be for the exclusives.. Any multiplatform game I'll buy on PC.

Anyhow the games that have me interested are:

  • Bloodborne
  • The Last Of Us
  • Until Dawn
  • Uncharted 4 (release March 2016)

Yeah it is only 4 games... Expensive to buy a console for only that. I'm on the fence about Infamous: Second Son. And don't mention Killzone. I fell asleep during the last boss in one of the previous games. So I'm not playing unless someone throws it at me.

Any console exclusives I should be looking into?

As for time of purchase... It depends on how good the sales are on it as we get close to Christmas... If they are all louse, I might wait until Uncharted 4 is released. Anything I should know about the online part? PSonline or whatever it is called... Is the basic 500GB version enough?

The Witcher 2 completed

Yeah I'm a bit behind on games. But now I am actually trying to get up to date.

It was fun, and it looks amazing. Though coming from Skyrim to this game, I felt a bit locked up. The areas weren't quite big enough for my taste. I liked the combat although I'm horrible at it. The game recommended that I play it through on easy so that's what I did.

Next up is The Witcher 3, though I can't start on it before I get some new extender fan cables. That shouldn't take more than a few days though.

Another Semester has begun

My first week at university again. Been easy so far. We haven't really started yet. Already received one task I should hand in. It's somewhat optional. We have 5 of them. Need to hand 3 of them and have them pass.

Chemistry... 2 Chemistry subjects this semester. Taking it a bit easy. They are both low level courses, but needed for second bachelor's degree. I miss 4 subjects to have a second one, so why not? Anyway this will lead to to a biochemistry bachelor. Should make it easier for me to get a job and also be a good match with my molecular biology bachelor. The subjects inorganic chemistry and physical chemistry 1: Thermodynamics and Kinetics (I think that is the full name). Sadly the book needed for inorganic chemistry is difficult to get my hands on. The online stores here that sell it has 10-20 work days as estimated delivery time. The book shop at university is also sold out and probably won't get any more in before next week or the week after that. Makes it unnecessary difficult to do hand in number 1. But it is still easy, just a notch over high school level actually.

Going to be some lab work to do as well. Looking forward to that. Hopefully whoever leads those isn't the type person who starts screaming at you whenever you got a question. I don't mind them being strict, but I hate being treated like an idiot. (Yes I've had a few of them... Glad one of them has last their job there)...

Also noticed the canteen (dunno if the right word. Small place where you can eat and buy food, but it is not a cafe) has closed in the chemistry building here. That sucks. It had some good baguettes... But oh well. Chairs and tables are still there so it is a good place to study. And if the weather is nice, there is an outdoor place right next to it. Suits me perfect.

From GK104 to GM200

The title means I upgraded from GPU in my computer from a Nvidia GTX 680 to a GTX 980 Ti. The old one was a MSI Twin Frozr III factory overclocked card. Instead of the usual 1006MHz(base) and 1058MHz (boost) core clocks, it ran at 1058MHz and boosted to 1124MHz. In reality it usually boosted to 1137 or 1154MHz. VRAM speed remained unchanged at 6GHz effective. I managed to overclock it to 1373(boost) and 6950 on the memory. It did sometimes clock up to 1392 on the core, but I suspect lack of power was the reason it never remained stable at those clocks. Temperature was never an issue as I had it under water cooling.

The new one is a Gigabyte G1 Gaming version of the GTX 980 Ti. This is also factory overclocked. Instead of 1000MHz(base) and 1079MHz (boost), it runs at 1190 (base) and 1279 (boost). Though it actually boosts up to 1354 on the core without me changing anything. VRAM runs at 7GHz effectively. Slightly faster there, and along with a wider bus (384bit compared to 256bit for the GTX680) means I have a lot more bandwidth available. I haven't tried overclocking it yet. Currently it have it under air cooling. Though not a bad one. It's a big chunk of metal with 3 fans that works quite well with keeping it cool. 68C is the highest I've seen so far. Expecting that to reach a little higher once I try to overclock it. Waiting for EKWB to release a waterblock for it. I expect that to bring my temperatures down to below 50C on it. The GTX 680 went from a high 70's/low 80's(this was during the highest OC I got stable under air cooling) to 44C once I changed that one. So I really hope a waterblock will bring the GTX 980 Ti in under 50C mark at least.

Oh before I forget. The new card has 6GB of VRAM instead of 2GB. Quite helpful since I'm gaming at a 3440*1440 monitor.
