Typing of the Dead (TotD requires DC Keyboard) duncanr2n

I second this suggestion!

Triple that one. :p That's a game that if you can get it, you'll love the idea.

Maybe I'll just get this instead

Even if the game sucks... consider me sold! That looks like the best use of a guitar peripheral I've seen in a loooong time. Now I can't wait for that game to come out. Thanks for the link duncanr2n!

I recently found out about the region locking "tabs" in a SNES. I didn't want to desecrate my beloved childhood SNES, nor did I want to defile my SNS-101. So I called up one of my local Goodwill stores and lo and behold they actually had a SNES in stock for $10. No cords, just the console. I swung by, and although the case was discolored and it was marked as "untested - as is", I figured I would give it a shot for just a ten spot. Works like a charm. However, I really hated that discoloration. So I picked up a can of chrome spray paint. Here's a before and after.

SNES repaint

SNAZZY! For those who dislike console mods: not to worry; my original SNES and the SNS-101 have not suffered any discoloration at all and will remain pure. :P

By the way, I just happened to have picked up some Japanese import SNES titles recently:

Tactics Ogre (SNES)
Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu (SNES)
Fire Emblem: Monshou no Nazo (SNES)
Romancing Sa-Ga 2 (SNES)
Chrono Trigger (SNES)
Daikaijyuu Monogatari

Link: The Faces of Evil, CD-i, sleeve well-worn, rest v. fine, complete, R2, $25

TwarBlackshire

Very cool buys! I would have gladly paid the same for the CD-i Link game as well regardless of its fun factor.

Yes, me too. 'Grats on the pickup snpr. :)

As a collector, I'm interested in both.

However, quite frankly, I would opt for the anthology first. Clearly it's the better deal financially and in my opinion is so much more accessible. All you have to do is pop the disc into a console that you're more likely to have hooked up to a TV anyway and you're set. Less trouble with fiddling with old wired controllers, hooking up an RF cable, plugging in another power cord to your wall, switching out cartriges when you want to play something else. It's just so much easier. And for six dollars? Why not!?

That said, I would still be interested in buying a 2600 when I found a good deal. But it likey wouldn't get very much use. Even my Genesis and NES consoles are usually stored away instead of connected to a TV.

Rockstar: on the one hand you're brilliant but on the other hand you're idiots.

Inkwolf, I think you will be happier with this game if you purchase it for less money. someNONSENSE

Thanks for the heads up; those quirks do sound a bit annoying. It's a shame when stuff like that sours a great game. I'll bet some of that stuff may get patched (such as the short-lived and small text mission descriptions). Unless it's given to me as a gift on my birthday, I wasn't planning on picking this one up until it got down to the enevitable $20 price point anyway.

I just wanted to comment that RDR has done something no other game I can even think of has ever done for me; which is to get me excited about playing in a genre I've never had any interest in before.

Other than the things you've already mentioned, are you enjoying the game? I assume the story and characters are top-notch.

Red Dead Redemption - regular edition (X360) New $55someNONSENSE

I just wanted to say that I have never really been interested in the whole "western" thing. I didn't play "cowboys and indians" as a kid. I'm a sci-fi and fantasy kinda guy. Also, as far as RockStar goes, I don't own any of the GTA games. The open world aspect seems awesome, but again, I just don't like the whole "mobster" genre thing it has going.

Despite all of that, I am freaking stoked about Red Dead Redemption. It looks fan-f'ing-tastic. I've watched reviews and gameplay videos and I want to play this game almost more than I want to play Demons' Souls. Like I said, I've never liked "westerns", but this game alone is turning my opinion around on that. Not that I'm gonna start watching old episodes of Gunsmoke (although I wouldn't mind playing more Gun.Smoke :P), but I can definately see myself getting hard-core into this game world. I cannot wait to play it.

inkwolf's total did not move for the fourth month in a row. That, and his total absence, make me sad.

Oh hey... the April leaderboard... Yeah, I'm back. Sorry. :P

inkwolf's total did not move for the third month in a row. What up with that?

gmsnpr

I've been a lazy bum that's what. :P

Also, my life is pretty much getting flipped upside down lately.

I've still been picking up a few games every now and then. I'll add a few so my total isn't stagnant next month as well.
