Not even Mario? :O

Hizang

Hmm... yeah, not even Mario so much. But that does help somewhat. As a kid (and still today) I've had absolutely zero interest in sports; I didn't play them, didn't watch them on T.V., and never even bothered to learn all the rules. (I know the basics, but I'm clueless about anything more complicated than a foul ball, touchdown, or 3-point shot.) I only have very few of the Mario baseball, tennis, or whatever games; and most of those I only have 'cause I found them very cheap. So yeah, Mario sport games are alright, but I'd probably pick any other non-sports game over one of those if I had to.

I really like his game signs, I want to track one down for the N64.Hizang

Personally, I'm more interested in the games themsleves than the game-related merchandise (i.e. plushies, figures, signs, etc.). However, I did see a very nice three foot wide neon "Nintendo DS" sign at Goodwill the other day for only $12. I would have bought it, but the "t" in the sign was cracked on the back, rendering it completely useless.

Regardless, I really like that guy's collection and would love to see it in person. I prefer to keep my games in cabinets with doors. Partially to protect the games from my young children, but also because I think it looks nice. But if I had a basement (alas I live in Florida) I probably wouldn't mind keeping them on doorless shelves.

Sadly, and this is why I don't consider myself a collector anymore aspro73

Never fear, as long as you have that awesome stack of games, you are a collector.

Ugh... sounds like you are in game collector's purgatory. I'm glad to hear from you aspro, but sorry to hear about the game "scene" you're in down-under. Still, isn't there anything like Goodwill, pawn shops, or garage sales even? Craigslist? There's gotta be a way to get some "older" PAL systems on the cheap, and then start in on PAL games you don't have yet in NTSC?

I have been known to wait until a system is last gen to purchase it and its games however. No rush here.

bears_lp

This is a fantastic way to save cash if you can wait it out. The only thing you have to be careful of is those games that might shoot up in price instead of getting cheaper with age (Such as SMT Nocturne or MvC2). Also, if you're pretty sure you will be getting a console later on down the road, it can even be worth it to pick up games on the cheap and let them sit on the shelf until you get the system. I had about ten or twelve PS3 games (all bought on clearance for $10 to $15) before I got the slim version at the price drop; it's also nice to have a whole bunch of games available to you right away.

this gen may be it for me.... I will never buy a console that runs exclusively off digital distrubution... and by the looks of things... we are about to hit that point.waflerevolution

Yeah, this is my stance too. I have absolutely no intrest in the PSP Go for example. I doubt the next console generation will be digital distribution only though. Maybe the one after that.

no one else comes here anymore...

waflerevolution

The pendulum will swing back eventually... it is an inevitability.

[QUOTE="mijahi"]

Angela Lansbury!! Holy cow! She used to be hot!! I would have never guessed her.

CodingGenius

That's why I chose her. Too many people know about her late Broadway and Murder, She Wrote and nothing else!

If you think that's a good picture of her, check out this one where she's all decked out for LARPing. :P

OK, I'm still playing Neverwinter Nights, but I've also cracked open Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero? (PSP) which I must say, is rather good. I've already "beaten" the main story, and the Asagi side-story, but there's even more stuff to collect, and also another set of levels I haven't unlocked yet, so there's still a lot left to play (which is why I'm not posting this in the "Victory" thread). The stages themselves are kind of hum-drum, but the boss fights, genuinely humorous script, and wonderful characters (witness my updated signature) are what truly make the game shine. The game has strong replay value in that you choose which order you want to play the first six levels, and this choice determines the level layout, boss battles, dialogue, and item collected from completing the level. Despite these differences, the levels still play very similar to thier other permutations, but I find that it's easily worth the trouble due to the different dialogue you get before and after every boss battle. Great game.

One more thing... I've recently downloaded all of the PSP demos from pspdemocenter.com (which I recommend if your PSP memory card is feeling kind empty) and I suggest checking out the demo for Hitman Reborn 2 (links to download page). It's a Japanese demo, but a fighting game, so you don't need to understand the language to have fun with it. The graphics are pretty darn impressive and it's also quite fun. Here's a youtube gameplay video if you're curious (does not do it justice, the game looks way better on the PSP screen).

One of my local Goodwill stores had not one, but two Sega Saturn consoles. Both came with one controller, AV cable and power cord for $19 total. Is it worth it?

The same store also had a Genesis, with a Sega CD and a 32x all together for $29. Again, is that worth it?

I forgot our Toys-R-Us. I don't go there as often as I should...gmsnpr

I drove by my TRU today and now it makes sense why they took all the signs down, it is now a Toys-R-Us/Babies-R-Us. Still not open yet, but I'm glad to know I'll be able to use that gift-card I've been hanging on to.

and an occasional trip to ebay (where everything tends to be cheaper)waflerevolution

I haven't done eBay in a while. Which is probably for the better...

It's too easy to go crazy on eBay.

Personally (if you don't consider January to be too far away) I'm really excited about No More Heroes 2 and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. Granted, I doubt those are as "biggie" as the other games you've mentioned...
