Went to the mall yesterday... (Fire Pro Wrestling Returns)
by interpolred on Comments
...and did some more Christmas shopping with a friend of mine. While we were there he decided to get me my birthday present at Gamestop. He got me Fire Pro Wrestling Returns. I've been playing since yeterday. It's a pretty unique game, and it has a slightly steep learning curve, but it's also a whole lot of fun once you get the hang of it.
What I like about it is that it's so unique from the standard WWE games (which is part of the reason I opted to skip yet another season of the Smackdown! series of games). The gameplay is different from that of any wrestling game I've ever played. There are 327 wrestlers, a few of which are actual current or former WWE superstars like Umaga, The Great Khali, and D-Lo Brown. You can create 500 wrestlers of your own using a deep cutomization system, so if you want to put Chris Jericho or The Rock in there, you probably can. You can create championship belts, referees, and stables. Also, this game has a few interesting match types such as Battle Royale, Cage Match, etc. But in my estimation, no match compares to the exciting Barbed Wire Exploding Deathmatch! (You figure that one out.)
Pretty cool indeed! So that's about it. Did some shopping yesterday, got an early gift, and now I must get started on a 6-page paper for tomorrow. :|
*EDIT: Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that Fire Pro Wrestling Returns is officially my 100th game. Just thought I'd throw that in there. Also, regarding my 6-page paper, the topic is open, so I decided to do it on The Legend of Zelda. It should be interesting, and quite fun since the Zelda series has a lot of story to it.
Coming soon

The year is coming to an end. 2007 saw me playing many great games as well as a few crappy ones. In a few days I will be posting "My Top 10 Games of 2007." See which games left a good impression on me during the course of the year. It's going to be tough picking out just 10, because I have to admit I played a lot of good games this year.
Time to move on

I just finished The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past a short while ago. That game was really something! Even back in the early 90s, that high-quality gameplay was really embedded deeply into the Zelda franshise.
I had a lot of fun playing this game. It was a memorable title indeed. But now it is time to move onto another game. I own quite a few games that I have yet to complete. Hell, I own quite a few games that I have yet to even play at all! Before LttP, I was playing The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. It was pretty cool playing two Zelda games in a row. The last time I did that was last year. I played through Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, got my Wii a few days later, and followed it up with Twilight Princess. I might give Ocarina of Time another play-through, and follow that up with Majora's Mask. (For those who aren't counting, that would mean I'd be playing through four Zelda games in a row. Also, it should be noted that I haven't passed, or even played a whole lot of, Majora's Mask, and I would really like to finally do that.)
Zelda games are rich in story, puzzle-solving, and collection. Playing through a Zelda game can be a draining, albeit very rewarding, experience. There's just so much to do that by the time you're finished with a Zelda game, you really feel like you've accomplished something grand.
At first I was thinking of playing something a little grittier, like Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories. Then, I pondered on playing something simple and not too draining like Luigi's Mansion. But as I sit here and type all of this up, I think I will keep it going with Zelda.
So tonight, I will begin playing The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for what is probably the fourth or fifth time already. (Yes, it's that great of a game!)
Well, it's almost 1 in the morning...

...and I should probably be in bed already, as I have to wake up early. I was falling asleep about an hour ago, but now I'm wide awake. I wanted to play some Mario Strikers Charged online but couldn't get my Wii to connect to the internet. (Stupid computer!)
I'm going to take a shower in a while, but first I'll probably a little WWF No Mercy. Damn, such memories with that game! I remember I used to stay up late playing this game. One fond memory I have is of a time when I was getting a fever, but I could not stop playing, so I brought the Nintendo 64 out of the shelf just so I could play as I layed on the couch. Good times.
I actually managed to get 100% completion for each title belt. I guess I have always been a completist when it comes to games.
Well, time for some wrasslin'!
Accomplishment

There are still a few things I need to purchase, such as guitars, finishes, and outfits, and there are more unlockables to obtain through co-op mode.
(By the way, I am aware that I could simply use the "Unlock All" cheat, but I don't play that way, so yeah.)
Argh!

I want so many games!!!! I hate not having any cash to ease my desire for more and more games! Right now the games I'm really wanting to play are:
Neutopia
Neutopia II
The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s
Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock
Mario Party DS
Manhunt II
Super Mario Galaxy
Link's Crossbow Training
But the games I DO NOT want to play are:
SmackDown! Vs. Raw 2008
Rayman Raving Rabbids 2
I think that's it. But yeah...
Oh! I want Fire Pro Wrestling Returns! This year, I have decided to substitue the realistic WWE brand of wrestling games for something a little more "cartoony." Because honestly, the SmackDown! game this year doesn't seem too promising. This was bound to happen; the last WWE game I got was WWE Day of Reckoning 2, so you see, I have skipped a few games, but that's really only because they haven't seemed to be going anywhere with the series. Maybe next year...
Climbing up the ranks
by interpolred on Comments
I deleted some stuff from my computer, so I was able to get my Nintendo Wi-fi Connector working again, thus enabling online play for my Wii.
Anyways, my online rank in that game was about 3000, which means I was pretty much at the bottom of the ladder compared to other online players.
Last night I played for about an hour and went up significantly. I just finished an estimated 3-hour playing session and am now number 95. Maybe it's my ego getting the best of me, but it feels good to be one of the top 100 players! The problem is that now I'm going to want to get better and go up even more in the ranks. That's why I hate online gaming; it doesn't let you focus on other, REAL games like Zelda, GTA, Metroid, etc...
I'll probably play more later, but I also want to continue A Link to the Past. So right now, the three games taking up my time are LttP, Guitar Hero II, and Mario Strikers Charged.
Phantom Hourglass, Link to the Past, Guitar Hero II

Last week I beat The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. It was a very satisfying game, and it had a good story to it. I'm going to go back and do the side quests. I only need a few, so yeah.
I got started on The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. It was originally released on the SNES, but is now up for download on the Wii. I downloaded it a few months ago, and I just started it right after beating Phantom Hourglass. LttP is a great game in its own right too.
I started getting back into Guitar Hero II because the way Warfust talked about GHIII made me want to go and play it again. I brushed up on my skills by playing through Medium difficulty, but I just started Hard a while ago and I got through the first setlist.
