Big fan of X-series and Privateer/Freelancer, but why would I want a game where dozens of star systems of space stations are named after some rich douchebag...
Kind of ruins the immersion, when you play the game and you are constantly reminded of it - "Now docking at John Thomas station" - doesn't it.
Do you really think Sony is going to sell you PS4 and say that it won't play used games? No no.
What they will do first is release PS4 with fanfare and bells and whistles - they won't even mention the tech built into the system. Then they will release a PS-only game with a rabid fanbase (like Metal Gear Solid or Final Fantasy XXXIX) and add that tech to that popular game. After that the company puppets will go on forums and say things like: "Yeah, I know it sucks that you cannot play pre-owned Metal Gear 5: Snake's Geriatric Enema Adventure, but this game is so AWESOME. OMG! LOL."
This will be done gradually, starting with popular games and slowly expanding to others, and before you know it will become a standard. Most of you naysayers at that time are already obedient little consumers by purchasing the console and then you will shrug your shoulders and go "Oh, well".
Yes, playing Mortal Combat makes you a hard-boiled child killer, proficient at firing every gun.
Let's not address the fact that we are living by an idiotic law that was written 220-effing-years ago, when guns could fire 1 shot in 15 seconds. Where suddenly some half-wit school teacher, with an autistic child, is somehow considered to be part of "well regulated militia."
Lets not address that at all. Lets ban the games and lets buy more guns.
