20. Wow. In my mind, I remember being a lot older when the original PlayStation got big and I received my first one. I guess I got into it a little later than I thought if PS is turning 20.

I think the patriotically correct term is "intellectual disability," actually. however I don't typically use the word. I have just noticed a giant red flag surrounding it, primarily with other users. but further on the confusion that concerns me is the quote, "Even if you don’t agree with all of the rules, we still expect you to follow them." Which i understand. However there is no rule surrounding saying "retarded," so my question now is why is anything even being done against those who use it in the first place since it isnt a rule? and why is this being enforced so heavily just on political incorrectness?
There is right and there is wrong. There is good and there is bad. and there is smart and there is stupid. Bethesda is one of the few who actually do DLC properly. Not just axed parts of a game to be sold back to you later.... and always substantial meat in addition to the main game. A $30 season pass sounds perfect given that each of their games usually has about 4-5 packs, costing $15-$20 apiece.
This raises more questions than answers. So there is no rule against the word usage. But it is a word still "frowned" on... and a person can receive a ban by the usage of the word (although you say you don't personally)?
You can't just say "hey, stop using that word." Especially when it isnt being used as a slur or as flaming or in the form of hate speech against the mentally debilitated. Or are you saying that is exactly what will happen??
Doesn't matter what everyone's history here is. 99% of everyone here is an idiot fanboy who tries to shit all over competing consoles whent hey dont' knoww hat the **** they are talking about. And then they say its okay because "thats how it is supposed to be" and then they mutter somethingsomething metagame somethingsomething. So who cares with these assholes. Mention your favorite game or system and all they will do is tell you how much of an *insert animal name here* you are.
I honestly think both classifications would be wrong. They are both hybrid games, yes, but for example, they both use RPG as their base genre and then branch off from there.
I also want to point out that Mass Effect here is an excellent example, it has about as much emphasis on character interaction, social simulation, and romances as Persona does, but it is never called out for being a dating sim. They are both RPGs (real time action RPG in Mass Effect's case, dungeon crawling turn based RPG in Persona's case), with a healthy helping of mechanics that are otherwise not typical to the RPG genre. Calling them anything but an RPG would be as fallacious as stating that Fire Emblem Awakening is no longer an SRPG, simply because it has the pair up mechanic- the pair up mechanic functions primarily as a supplement and complement to the main RPG mechanics, which is the exact same case for Mass Effect and Persona.
i just didnt feel the "rpg" in Persona 3&4. primarily the combat. i felt like the game's RPG mechanics were town exploration with combat as an afterthought. when you take combat out of RPg games, you are left with a complicated and deep "sim." combat is the core of the RPG. different RPG genres are titled after their combat system of choice, e.g.: strategy rpg, action rpg, turn-based rpg, ect. with little combot emphasis, the game slips away from being an RPG at its core. Person is definitely lacking compared to to others in the genre.
I will certainly agree that Persona (and Mass Effect) are not as full fledged RPGs as others in their genre are, yep.
And on that note, The Sims is an RPG without a combat system. Rather, my point being... or is it?
If we want to get as amorphous with our genre definitions, every single game is technically an RPG
my point being is they arent. and that persona isnt. ...unless of course, as you said, if you wanted to induct every game ever into the RPG genre.
About as many 'murican dudebros who have PS4/XB1 just for CoD or Madden.
Facts are facts, PC's gaming/hardware are well over consoles, and exponentially above any 1 system.
as numerous articles have show, lol.... not even half of the dudebros in the 'muricas account for the moba and mmo popularity in the east. so, no.
So I'm going to come out and say it...
Are we not allowed to say the word "retarded?" It is not in the list of rules. Now, I am aware of rules in place to protect against derogatory slurs having to do with racial, sexual orientation or any debilitating illness (or any other bigotry)... including the mentally retarded. But it seems that even saying the word gets comments deleted, threads locked and even bans handed out.
So what is with this word other than the obvious I already mentioned? Why is special action being taken with it/ and is there a rule set in stone saying it cannot be named at all? Do I need to worry about a ban for even asking this? do 90% of moderators have retarded children and are overly sensitive?? what is going on?
Nope. Social sim management does make a game a dating sim, especially given the overt presence of all other RPG elements.
this is true. but i think the reverse is the reality here. small RPG mechanics thrown in here and there do not make the game an RPG, especially given the overt presence of the core social/dating sim gameplay and setting.
but to be fair, it is half and half. it would be more accurate to call this game a dating sim than it would be to call Mass Effect a shooter.
