I was one of the first to say it, Playstation makes killer "First Party" exclusives... but, if microsoft wanted to (which they have been doing) can buy the developers that make great games.
This is very interesting... Can't wait to see if they make Bethesda clean up their shit.
Lol. The minimum system requirement is a GPU that cost a 100$ more than a whole current gen console in 2014.
Just shows what a rip-off PC gaming is once manufacturer and game developer support for a GPU series goes down the drain after 3-4 years. The GTX 780 is more than 100% (!) faster than the GPU in the base PS4 from a raw power perspective - yet it runs modern games considerably worse.
Actually, it really shows how shitty consoles are. Think about it. The right PC kills anything... Specs are scaled down the way they are, so shitty console players can run the game at at least a decent framerate.. Has nothing to do with PC hardware, it has to do with poor performing, next-gen, current gen & past gen consoles.
Developers want EVERYONE to enjoy the game, more money, the more asses it reaches. Makes sense from their POV to turn down GFX settings and resource power, to work on console too.
@twztid13: lol MB, ram & case are dirt cheap... Technically you don't even need a case. Who doesn't have an old KB & mouse laying around (and if not, your local discount stores like "Big Lots" sells them for $5 & $10. Modern TVs will do for a monitor (regardless of input lag or response times, just looking for what works) storage, you can remove from any old ps3/ps4/x360/xone old computer ect.
Your bigger tickets items... GPU & CPU and the cooler for the cpu... Since the $500 i said before is already reserved for the GPU, that leaves the cpu cooler & cpu...
You can buy a cooler for under $100 (maybe between $50-$75) that will work (no heavy OCing) and you can buy a decent cpu between $200-$350.
So really no one should be far off from beating any next-gen console, under $1k total (including the gpu) and your pc will beat ANY console within the next 5 to 7 years.
Does it cost a little more off the bat, Yes about an extra $500 (minimum, depending if you decide do go a bit more "overkill") but, in the long run of things, it A LOT more beneficial.
No annual subscriptions to play online, dirt cheap games (even new releases) stronger performance, more futureproof, full control of your games (GFX, FPS ect) and I'm sure theres more..
So in short... While you were right, it will cost a little more (depending on what you already have or don't have) its not completely out of the ball park, if one would fight off the urge to "follow the rest of the sheep" off the cliff, and maybe save for a little longer, so they can save themselves money in the long run,
I was lucky enough to snag one about an hour after the show on walmarts website. I really don't have an interest in any console, but i thought i can make some money off selling my pre order on ebay...
Anyone wanna buy, only $799.99!!!!
PC gamers, seeing on how Sony is starting to openup its lineup to pc players, its just a matter of time before we start seeing more PS exclusives, on pc... So just spend the same $500 bucks, and buy a 3080, and be set better than ANY console, this generation... or next.
I don't know why people are going crazy for release date & pricing info... Not only would sony stay in the same ball park as MS, they will probably price the same or a few bucks lower. We've seen it with every console generation.
Next-gen Consoles will never be more than $500... The manufacturers know any more than $500, you'll start seeing a dip in the people that can afford to waste the money on a video game console (toy)
Consoles are still around, because they are cheaper alternatives to PCs... Anymore than $500 for a console, your better off building a budget PC, and more future proof.
Collector edition's of consoles (like the 20th anniversary ps4) are the only exceptions to the $500 rule, anything more, buy/build a budget pc
People dropping $1k on video cards….Glad I’m content with consoles, paired with the best TV n stuff.
Guess it’s easier to appreciate the finer details when your face is 2 inches from the monitor.
To each his/her own. but, its not just about "finer details"... performance has a lot to do with it.
Think about it, the best TV in the world, doesn't mean shit if the thing(console) hooked up to it can barely push 30-60 FPS with those "finer detail" 4K settings, and NOT max settings.
That's just 1 reason, for me at least. Frame rates matter more to me, than resolution. I'd rather play at 1440p Max/144+FPS, than 4k Max/60+FPS (depending on the game)
Thats always been my biggest issue with consoles... Their too locked behind walls.
I will say, if you own any of the RTX 20 series, there is no need to upgrade now. All past and games out now run fine on all the 20 series cards, and any announced game coming out in the next year plus aren't going to run 8K, because most developers make games with consoles in mind (to reach the whole market, to reach a broader market... i.e anything a console can do, a PC can do better & more people have console money than high-end money) and no console is rendering a full game in full 8k and 60+ FPS (probably not even 30) any time soon.
So, the 30 Series cards probably won't be beneficial enough right now, and by the time they can show what they can do... the next "hook" will be baited (cough 40 series) HOOK, LINE and....
