So i should be fine to ply Half Life 2, Quake 4 and Doom 3 on high/max settings then? Those are the only really demanding games i have, although i plan to pick up Oblivion, that should run medium settings right?

Also, do you think this setup would run S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl?

Thanks for the info.

[QUOTE="Makari"]UPS/FedEx require a signature by default. You have to check a box that forfeits the signature release.. IIRC it also forfeits the shipping insurance too.-GeordiLaForge-
I've ordered things from Newegg several times, and everything was left outside my house each time. I guess that Newegg either checks the box, or the delivery employees don't feel like doing any extra work...

last month i had my intel core 2 duo sitting outside my house for 4 hours until i got home from school. some little girl scout could be walking by selling cookies and snatch my cpu, then sell it on the black market(which is highly likely cause i live in the hood). i dont think ups or newegg would replace it if that happened, nor would they believe my story

are you buying from a retail store or online?  those prices are really high.  those are the same prices (U.S.) that i would be paying on eBay or newegg.com

[QUOTE="x_boyfriend"][QUOTE="j3ninja"] i got a 7600gt in order to run my computer until 8600's come out. i can run rainbow six vegas on max, counter strike source on max, and bf2142 on max (all at 1240, 1024 res. ) the card is decent. and it surprised me

Ironically, I've designed my rig for the exact same reasons as you. I'm hoping to switch to the 8 series as soon as I find enough reason to switch to Vista.

What other games have you tried the 7600GT on though?

i mainly play counter strike source, so i set my fps_max to 60 cause thats what my monitor hertz is set at. it is constantly at 60. if played fear and set it on max and it was playable, i didnt notice any really low frame rates. the 7600gt is a great temporary card until you want to upgrade. i spent $100 and it was worth it. I'm not getting another card until Crysis comes out and dx10 games come out.

[QUOTE="TheDarthvader"][QUOTE="x_boyfriend"][QUOTE="TheDarthvader"]"I'm planning to use it for INTENSIVE gaming, SD / HD video editing, and graphic design" Forget about doing that with a 7600.

Really? Ah, f*ck. But were you specifically talking about the gaming, the editing, or the graphics design?

I don't require my games to be on Ultra settings, or even max. But I would like to play COH on decent frame rates with a bunch of the bells and whistles turned on. Saw your sig. The 7900 GS is way too steep for me :(.

For editing and stuff, 7600 is just not what you'd want. For gaming, 7600GT is the bare minimum for medium graphical settings. You can try and get a cheaper CPU and get a better GPU, that way you will get better gaming performance. With a 7600GS , a Conroe E6600 is a waste.

I'm using Crysis as a next gen dx10 benchmark. I can only play up to 1280x1024 res on my 19inch flat panel.

If I get a low range core-duo, is the 8800gts 320mb version going to be man enough to play this sort of game?

What have they been running the Crysis demonstrations on? Should I wait it out for another 6 months and get a somewhat faster cpu and gpu?

Thanks in advance,

Tom

if you have a c2d e6300 with a 8800gts 320mb you should be fine to play Crysis.
