hmm ok thanks for that, i guess im going to get of different answers aren't i?

I do have one other question. i understand that you can import all of the songs from Rock Band 1 into Rock Band 2 using an import key you buy from the PSN store. My question is do you have to keep the Rock Band 1 disc after you've done this? I know that a few songs don't get imported into RB2 but i'm not worried about those, i'm wondering if my ps3 needs the RB1 disc to play any of the imported songs? probably a stupid question but its all new to me

hi all, I was just wondering what the general opinion was amongst those who play Rock Band/Guitar Hero as to which they believe is the best overall guitar? Reason i'm asking is because I've pre-ordered Rock Band 2 recently for the PS3 but it appears the new RB2 instruments arent going to be released in the UK for a while, so I just want a decent guitar to keep me busy until I can get the new RB2 kit.

a friend of mine claims the Guitar Hero 3 guitar is his favourite, and that his RB1 guitar is pretty rubbish. but he's a bit fickle tbh.

im pretty much a Rock Band/Guitar Hero virgin so any help would be greatly appreciated!

just got the game, really looking forward to playing it online. i am determined to play it with my microphone that i have used many times before on many many different games, both on the pc and my various consoles. however, i plug it into my pc this time around, and now ALL of the sound for the game is playing in my mic headphone (it has a left ear speaker). how can i get the games various sounds to play through my normal speakers and just have the voice chat going through my mic?

cheers in advance

forget about that then if its all USB, thats cool. the reason im asking for box dimensions is coz my dad happens to be in the US in a week so I have to make sure the box isnt too big that he cant bring it home with him. if it fits in a standard suitcase them im all set...if not :(

i have 2 final questions. as i live in the UK, im having to get my Rock Band 2 bundle from the USA. so:

1) what are the dimensions of the actual box that all of the equipment comes in and how heavy is it?

2) do the instruments have any US-specific plugs that wont allow them to work with UK 3-pin "sockets"?

sorry for yet more questions, these are the last ones i promise!

im pretty sure you dont get a mic with any of the ps3 models available. with regards to the HD cables, I got mine with my 60gig PS3 but of course they dont do that one anymore so i guess you're best bet is just checking on the various retailers websites for more details.

just kill the beast form of mantis as you normally would, then when its the hot girly version walking towards you like all the other beasts do in beauty form, just run back to the entrance of the big room you battled in. go down the corridor you came from originally and there you will find the mantis beast doll. done.

i steamed through COD:W@W in like 5 hours on normal difficulty. its a good job that unlocked the awesome zombie mode or I would have been really p!ssed. i agree it is rubbish how many games coming out these days are really short. but i guess it does really depend on what type of game you're playing. RPGs are historically lengthier than FPS's, and developers conform to these unseen conventions. Short sharp intense blast on an FPS, long involving and emotional journey through an RPG. i like a bit of both

You can switch the position of the strap holder so you can hang it for left handed, just unattach the holder (rotating it like a screw) and put in in the lower part of the guitar, and in the game you can activate "lefty mode". The only lowdown might be the whammy bar and the effect selector that would be on the upper part of the guitar while on "lefty mode". I'm not sure if what i wrote was clear but overall the answer to your question is yesJKusanagi

yeh that did make perfect sense. phew thanks for that i was worried my left-handedness has thwarted me again!

my girlfriend keeps bugging me about how the singing works (like she can actually sing!), does it just track your tone or pitch? does it have the words for the songs on screen?

wow thanks for all your comments guys, really helpful. im edging towards Rock Band 2 based on what you guys have told me so cheers. i do have one further question that has only just crossed my mind: im left handed so are the guitars for these games designed to be held by right-handed people or can anyone hold them? oh and is it better to buy a second guitar? and finally, how does the singing work in Rock Band? (lol just the one question...)

cheers
