I don't see anywhere from Sony or Naughty Dog that this is Day 1 DLC. There is a Day 1 pack with upgrades, but not DLC. Post release DLC is fine imo. They are just adding content (not taking content out of the core game).
@02050muh I bought an AMD card because performance to price ratio is around the same for the mid range graphic cards. The difference is AMD's Never Settle bundle which gave me Far Cry 3, Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite, and Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon. That's a lot of savings right there.
@2bitSmOkEy I love these kind of atmospheric, narrative driven games in the vein of Bioshock Infinite. Definitely want to pick this up. But I can't buy that many $60 games (I played Infinite and Tomb Raider). We will see.
@Kryptonbornson @jamvng @pozium simple. You liked the game a lot, lots of critics didn't as much. (It has 80+ on Metacritic, that is REALLY far from bad.) That happens all the time, with not just games, but movies too. We can't get caught up with the numbers in ratings anyway, they're just numbers.
@pozium it def wasn't the gameplay. But I think it was the combination of story, world/environment and characters that made it such an impressive, immersive experience; especially as you pointed out, in comparison to modern military shooters.
@noirtenshin imo I didn't think combat was bad; i had fun with it. But it definitely wasn't deep. It was good enough to be fun (again, for me).
But I do completely agree that when I remember why this game was soo good, it will be because of the story, characters and world. I will remember how much this game invested me and drew me in when I look back at this generation.
@OuTLaWzGaming @jamvng I would argue that it's not an interactive movie, especially when there has been stuff like Walking Dead, Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls. It's definitely linear, but it still has some exploring to do.
I also think there is room for linear narrative-driven games like Bioshock still. Not every game has to be open world. I've played Dark Souls, Skyrim, Witcher 2, etc etc. But I still appreciated Bioshock Infinite's linear, scripted sequences, because they gave an experience that I don't think would be possible if not for the handcrafted scenes and levels that Irrational Games made. As a sum of its parts, adding story, world, characters and gameplay, imo Bioshock Infinite was a unique game, that deserves the praise its been getting.
BUT you are entitled your opinions. I know plenty of people hate Bioshock Infinite, and don't understand the hype, or think it is overrated. That's fine. But let's not expect all of us to have the same opinions. Discussion, not flame wars.
