@Gelugon_baat I wasn't talking about being "let off easier" because it's an underdog game. I was talking about it getting equal footing in spite of Deep Silver's lack of advertising funds.

@Phienyx @Gelugon_baat At the end of the day though, whether the problems are server-side or client-side, the problems persist for the end-user experience and should not. Diablo 3 was delivered in an appallingly bad state, both in terms of the client and the server access. Battlefield 3 was delivered in an appallingly bad state.

But then, Iron Front wasn't published by a major advertising customer like EA or Activision.

@AngelCage-2 ...and no games that can make use of it.

@CruiserCaptain Quantum of Solace (ironically by Activision, the James Bond ones seem to be the only ones they can get right), Scott Pilgrim, The Godfather, Spiderman 2, LOTR: Return of the King, Aladdin, various Star Wars games, Riddick, King Kong, The Warriors, X-Men Origins Wolverine.

Mistaken report I'm afraid. If you go to usk.de and type in Diablo 3 under "Titelsuche", you'll see that the USK has issued no rating for the PS3 version, only the PC version. And that supposed link brings me to some blog.

Given time or a little innovation, movie-based games can be good. The problem is that Activision is probably the worst one to be singing the praises of movie-based games, as the worst ones usually come from them, especially when timed to coincide with the release of the film. The only time I can recall that an Activision game released concurrently with a film has been decent is Quantum of Solace.

There are absolutely top-notch film-licensed games out there though. The Warriors, The Godfather, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World to name a few. The latter was produced in a rush, but it was so ingeniously made that it didn't matter.

Autolog was the biggest fail possible in NFS: HP. It was otherwise a solid game, but having Autolog shoved down my throat when hardly anyone was playing online was a bit annoying.

I see a iot of complaining that it isn't Metal Gear Solid without the stealth, but it's not Metal Gear Solid - it's Metal Gear Rising. Having played Bayonetta and Vanquish, I for one am looking forward to seeing what PlatinumGames has in store, given that I know that the devs are capable of making truly kick-ass action games.

@chilly-chill What do you mean "no closure"? Bioware brought the series to an end. They closed it. Sure, they didn't close it in the way you wanted them to, but they closed it. So many game series - Beyond Good and Evil for one - end up with their storylines hanging in the air.

Comparing the nerd rage that followed Mass Effect 3 and the feedback on Doom 3 is like comparing apples and oranges. People gave the flashlight idea a chance, and found it to be lacking. They didn't petition, throw temper-tantrums or post abuse at certain employees. They created a MOD. And if I recall correctly, id themselves viewed the flashlight idea as a bad one in retrospect. If they didn't, they wouldn't have changed it here.

Kudos to them for trying something new, but what was designed to create tension and excitement eventually turned into an irritation as you kept hitting F to swap between the flashlight and the weapon.

As for the idea that "the customer isn't always right" - the author obviously doesn't understand the nature of business: you do what the customer wants, or the customer - be it sooner or later - will take their business elsewhere. Gaming is no exception.
