I noticed your other posts in a similar thread from a while back. Did the guy's suggestion for hitting the button combinations to reset the cache or whatever work?

Yeah, I ran the connection tests and everything came out okay. I tried signing out and clicking "Join Xbox Live" and it restarted the console and now is on an orange screen saying "Downloading Updates", but it's seemingly taking forever. Confusing.

After going into Dashboard and connecting to Live, all that happens under the Marketplace tab, Games tab, etc is the Xbox icon in the middle of the page with the ring around it, but it won't go into Marketplace or anything. I've never seen this before - anyone know what the deal is?

Seeing as how DX10 has made a visible difference in like 3 games, and that difference is only really noticed by about 10% of the population that's even running DX10, I can TOTALLY see why they'd be pushing for DX11.

*** I originally posted this in the Fallout 3 board, but thought that this one might actually be more fitting***

So, Fallout 3 crashed (only about the 3rd time for me) and during the "Send Error Report" message box, Windows ended up in like 240x180 (dunno what, really) resolution, with like 8 colors.

After restart, everything seems cool, but... never had that happen before.I'm running on Ultra w/ Q6600, 4850, 2gb ram, XP.Any ideas why that would happen, or just a fluke?

Thanks for the help. After running some benchmarks and playing a few games, I'm pretty happy with the way it's running (the PSU and GPU both went in today).

I'm fairly certain that this setup is kosher, but I wanted to see what people with a more expert opinion thought.

I just picked up a Corsair 550W PSU today, and I'm hoping that it's enough reliable power to run my modest rig.

The rest of the specs are:

  • Q6600 @ 2.4
  • HD4850 512mb
  • Gigabye P35-DS3L
  • 2gb DDR2
  • Audigy2 ZS
  • A few extra case fans, DVD-R drive, basic HDD, Wireless card
Nothing is OC'd, I don't really tinker. Anyway, just curious - definitely appreciate some feedback! Thanks.

Tax money? Do you realize you could afford a new card now if taxes were lower?

Worst. Post. Ever.

Industry pundits seem to be a little worried about Wii's lack of keeping 3rd party devs in the loop, as well. Introducing new hardware at E3 was apparently news to a lot of devs, which doesn't seem like proper protocol for embracing 3rd parties.

To me, it seems like Wii has come out of the gate very well, and the hype is still selling units as fast as they come out. I have nothing against Nintendo, and nothing against people who love their Wiis, I just haven't been able to get into any of the games. The last Nintendo game I bought was Twilight Princess for my Gamecube, and so far (and looking to the future), I'm pretty content with that.
