Of course, you know you're going to get some seriously anti-Mac viewpoints on this board, since it's a PC Hardware board.

That being said, I absolutely love my Macbook Pro, but I don't use it to play games. It works better than any piece of hardware I've ever owned (no crash problems here) and I wouldn't trade it for another laptop.

I stick to my PC for gaming - most likely always will. As great as my MBP is, I'd never assume that it's a gaming rig, and I (and other Mac users) would suggest you don't as well.

Well, it's not a top-of-the-line PSU, by any means, but it's also not a piece of poo. I'm just looking to be able to get by for a month or so, and I'd much rather have the GPU than the PSU.

I'm going to upgrade my vid card to an 8800GT this month, and am wondering if my current 450W would be enough to power my rig with the new card. Currently I have (nothing overclocked):

  • Q6600
  • 2gb DDR2
  • Audigy ZS sound card
  • standard 7200rpm 250gb HDD
  • DVD/RW optical drive

Now, I realize that more power is better - keep in mind that I'm planning on buying a new PSU soon. I just wanted to know if 450W would be enough to tide me over for a month or so with the new GPU, or if I should get the PSU first and hold off on the card. It's just that, well, a new GPU is way more appealing to me, since I've got a 7900GS in there at the moment.

Thanks.

Well, I can, but it still ends up backwards in a way. Meaning, if the on-screen thing says to hit "A", even if I've mapped B to A it still ends up being wrong, because then the system things A is B.

Hey all - I'm using my wireless Xbox 360 controller with Windows games, for the first time, and I'm getting a weird issue. In Marvel Ultimate Alliance, my button presses don't correspond with the right things. For instance, I have to press B in order for an A action to take place. The shoulder buttons also seem disjointed.

Any help?

Yeah, you don't need to know anything about NWN at all to enjoy NWN2 - the stories have nothing in common. NWN2 hasn't really jumped out on the moddability level yet, but give it time and hopefully it will. The dev kit is way less user friendly than the original so you won't find the multitude of great user mods. If you haven't played the original maybe you should give it a shot. What a great game. NWN2 is great too, though.

If you're waiting on the Witcher to release the enhanced game to buy, you don't really have to. They said that people who buy the game now will get a free upgrade once the enhanced goes live. I don't have a link off the top of my head but I'm pretty sure that's right.

I'm with fireandcloud, too. Do yourself a favor and buy Baldur's Gate and BG2 and play those. I'm recently replaying 1 and you don't even notice the old graphics after a bit. It's such a good set of games. Icewind Dale I and II and Planescape: Torment are all awesome. You can play them all on Gametap for 10 bucks a month, too.

If you can stand buggy games, Gothic III might be a good one, although there isn't much to character customization.

What's the word on the 9600GT 512 in comparison to the 8800GT or the 3870? I haven't read much about it but it looks pretty dirt cheap.
