Update - Apr 03, 2006

The storms in the midwest seemed to go around me, although I witnessed plenty of wind, rain, thunder, and lightning. It seems most of the midwest saw some sort of tornado watch or warning. Anyway, last night's episode of The West Wing went as I thought it would, but the subplot with Josh and Donna has progressed fairly quickly in a short amount of time. Since the end of the series is near, it almost seems rushed. There wasn't a whole lot of other new shows on TV last night, Malcolm in the Middle, King of the Hill, and The Simpsons were all new, but I missed The Simpsons, so I'll have to catch it some other time. I didn't get involved with the Huff chat last night because I've never seen the show and I saw no reason to get involved. I've heard from others they limited it to US residents only, and like other chats, there were some problems with people being able to log in. Personally speaking, I'm not a fan of Java, I prefer mIRC for chat. It's been around forever, and I'm still using it today for chat. A few minutes after posting yesterday's blog, I was hit by a migrane. I didn't suffer the painful headaches most migrane-sufferers encounter, but I had trouble with my vision. It not seems to be hereditary. Both my mother and grandmother get them on occasion, and only their vision is affected from what I've been able to figure out. Fortunately, my migrane passed after a few minutes of stepping away from the computer screen, newspapers, television, etc. For my first ever migrane, it wasn't that big of deal, but I'm only in my twenties, and I'm wondering just how bad this will get a little older. A few of you seemed to like the video clip I linked to yesterday for The Colbert Report. Well, here's another clip for you. This time around, Stephen offers offers some love advice. This was originally broadcast around Valentine's Day, and happens to be one of my favorites, admittedly because Stephen loses his composure a little more than a minute into it. So go on, and take a look, and let me know what 'ya think of this one. Newswise, I haven't paid too much attention, so I don't have much to report on. I did, however, come across a new article stating the US military is planning on detonating a 700 tonne bomb in the Nevada desert soon. Is it just me, or does that seem a bit large? How much more destructive will this be over say 500 tonnes? Is it that noticeable? I'm not quite sure, but as long as it's not a nuclear weapon, I say go for it, but there has to be some sort of threshold where the size just isn't noticeable. This is the case with CPU speeds in computers. With most computer operations, you won't notice a whole lot of difference between say a 1.5ghz computer and a 3ghz computer. Update - Mar 30, 2006

No politics today, I promise. ;) While watching CNN this morning, I found out that Jill Carroll was released. She's been held hostage for three months, and it's good to see her finally released. When watching last week's episode of The West Wing, I was pretty surprised to see that in their teaser for this week's episode, they showed Josh and Donna in bed together. Anyone think they went a little far, and a little fast with that subplot? This was something many WW fans wanted to see for several seasons, but it seems a little odd that they're just throwing it into the show since it ends in a few weeks. I dropped by last night's Lost chat and made the mistake of entering before the show began airing. It seemed everything but Lost was being discussed, so I took off. I hope it went well, but I seriously hope they do a chat for the finale of The West Wing. Yakira, any word on that? I know that not everyone here watches The Colbert Report, so for those of you who don't tune in on a regular basis, I wanted to show you a video clip from a recent episode. If you have a pop-up blocker, disable it temporarily if the video doesn't pop up properly. I think you guys will get a kick out of it, especially the graphics package they used towards the beginning of the bit. Well, that about wraps it up for today. My blogs seem to be covering more topics than they used to, but I guess that's because they're no longer daily. Update - Mar 28, 2006

I don't usually talk about politics here, but did anyone else pay attention to the news? This morning, the White House announced the Chief of Staff, Andrew Card, was resigning. While this is good news to some extent, they replaced him Josh Bolten, who is another close friend of the President. What a stupid move! While some of us don't agree with the President's policies on some issues, they need to bring in more new people, people who aren't close friends. For quite a while, the administration has been suffering from "groupthink," which would explain many of the mis-steps (Dubai ports deal, for instance). It seems anyone who has a different opinion on something ends up resigning from the administration. Until someone truely new is brought in at a high level and shakes things up, the President will continue to have poll numbers below 40%. Anyone else care to offer an opinion on this? All of my pending submissions were cleared out last night, so thanks to whoever was working late. :) Current Rank: Guzzlefish Current Level: 52 (2%) Submission Status: Accepted: 15763 Pending: 0 Denied: 156 Total: 15919

Update - Mar 26, 2006

For the past few days, I was planning on Sunday (today) being a big submissions day, but now that it's Sunday, I'm not in the mood for it all, lol. This week, I took on two new trusted users. Joker00303 will be helping out for CSI and camatzotz will be helping out for Modern Marvels. Good contributors can make for pretty good trusted users, so I'm sure things will work out well. Speaking of which, why can't I become a trusted user for The Drew Carey Show? The editor told me he's got a trusted user, but the guy isn't even an active user anymore. WTF?! Anyone see that big car crash today? I was flipping through the news channels this afternoon and saw someone in an Indy car get killed when someone smashed into his car. One last thing for today, where is Stig14? She's not been around in a while, and her blog seems to have completely disappeared, only reachable in Google's cache. Anybody know? Bueller... Bueller... Update - Mar 22, 2006 - Late-Night Edition

I didn't get as much done tonight as I would have liked, but what can 'ya do? I finished up some more recaps and reviews and did some more cast and crew lists... the normal stuff. I hope the staff gives some thought to the idea of a "West Wing Finale" chat, which I contacted Yakira about recently. With the series coming to an end soon, it would be a nice tribute to the show, and allow fans of the series to gather for a special chat. I can't wait to see some of the old stars of the show come back for the final episodes! Tonight, Emaldalani approved one of the shows I submitted the other day, Joes vs Pros. It's sort of a fantasy sports show. Anyway, I'm calling it an early night again. I'll have to catch repeats of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report again. Update - Mar 21, 2006

I just finished some cast/crew lists with the help of Camatzotz. I also worked on a couple more recaps for The Drew Carey Show, The Daily Show, and The Colbert Report, but I haven't submitted them just yet. I need to proof them first. I also added a review for The Simpsons, which isn't a show I normally review... just a freak review, I suppose. With spring here, I decided to do a little spring cleaning in my private messages box. I usually delete the PMs about submissions being approved/rejected immediately, but I had a few left here and there. I also had dozens and dozens of PMs which were of no use to hold on to anymore, so I dumped them. In my cleaning, I came across a few that I forgot all about, including some flattering ones. I've included a few of them below, for your viewing pleasure. :P [QUOTE="mini2z"] Sent: 10/13/2005 This is what I just sent (to snide) :). If you get this twice sorry. The first time I sent you a copy it came to me. The best Editor AwardFrom: mini2z Sent: 10/13/2005 10:41pm should go to jchamberlin!! http://www.tv.com/users/jchamberlin/profile.php By far Jim is the best! I'm barely done typing and the quotes, notes and trivia is there on the CSI page. He's also been very helpful to me in the forums and blogs. The man deserves an award! Just thought you should know that you have a great editor on your hands! Kristin aka/mini2z

Wow, it's been a while since we've seen snide. We could surely use him again. [QUOTE="bboys577"] Sent: 11/03/2005 Hi there, As a small token of our gratitude for helping to contribute and make TV.com the best site it can be, we'd like to send you a gift. We'd like to send you a Kathy Reichs novel. The Fox series Bones was inspired by her forensic anthropological work. Please send along an address to where this should be shipped. Thanks again!

When I responded by saying I had already received that book in a different giveaway, she responded by saying: [QUOTE="bboys577"] Sent: 11/03/2005 You're so honest! I'll have to nose around for something else to send your way. :)

Unfortunately, I never heard anything since about it, but it's no big deal. :) [quote="missribs"] Sent: 09/19/2005 RENUMBERING TOOL WILL BE ADDRESSED: after the chaos of the fall season (which is now upon us) has passed. editors, please hold tight as a solution for renumbering episodes is in the works! we will let you all know how it's going to work, as soon as we do.

I'm still surprised this hasn't been brought back yet. This was a very handy tool! Current Rank: Guzzlefish Current Level: 52 (2%) Submission Status: Accepted: 15606 Pending: 9 Denied: 156 Total: 15771

Update - Mar 20, 2006

There's not much to mention today. The only show I submitted things for today was The Drew Carey Show. Eleven recaps/reviews later, I'm a bit tired. The other day, I sent in a bunch of new shows to be approved, but I haven't heard anything. :( I've still got 18 new show submissions "pending," with many more still to submit. Update - Mar 18, 2006

When I logged on this morning, I was happily surprised to read the news about the search engine being updated. It's certainly been a while since it's been updated; hopefully, it will be kept up to date on a regular basis. It would make sense to update it on a daily basis, along with the contributor points and levels. With the update on the search engine, it's now very easy to see all of the duplicate names, and it's a scary mess. Yakira's big list will surely be growing soon, but it's unfortunate that none of the names are being deleted from the database. When I stopped by the main tv.com page, I saw the graphic about WWE coming back to NBC Saturday nights. I admit it's a bit surprising to hear, since it's been off NBC's programming for several years. I decided to tune in for a little bit to see how it's changed, and it's not changed much since I saw it last. There are a few new faces, and a few are no longer involved, but overall, it's the same. I just heard that NBC will now air Deal or No Deal three days a week soon. WHY?! Did NBC not learn from ABC's mistake when they aired Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? ABC got greedy with their popular show and decided to "over-air" it, several broadcasts a week, until the public got tired of it and stopped watching. If NBC does the same with their show, it will have a similar fate. Regardless, I don't have any intent on watching it, so it won't bother me. This just seems like a move NBC is making because they can't come up with anything for TV anymore. Update - Mar 13, 2006

If you missed last night's post, be sure to check it out below. I haven't blogged this often in a while. :) Last night, the midwest was pounded by thunderstorms and tornadoes. While I didn't see any tornadoes, I got my share of rain and hail. Much to my surprise, my basement was flooded when I checked it this morning. By looking at the water line on the hot water heater, washer, and dryer, we had about four or five inches of rain in a couple of hours. The basement hasn't flooded here in probably ten years, so it's been a while since there was such a big downpour. Needless to say, this has left for a lovely cleanup job. Anyway, I was able to catch The West Wing's new episode last night. Anyone else watch it? It's about time we saw something happen between Donna and Josh, and I thought they did a nice job of handling the scene. The episode overall wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. The teaser at the end of the episode was great; we got to see Sam and several other cast members who will be returning for the end of the series. Unfortunately, there wasn't much else on last night. I know some tuned in for HBO's The Sopranos, but the show has never been of any interest to me, so I skipped it and called it an early night.
