Update - Feb 13, 2006

How's everyone doing? I haven't done much over the past week, just enough activity to keep my queue empty. I finished up a few recaps this morning for shows from last week. One of them was for an episode of The Daily Show. One of the segments was an old one from a few years ago, and it included a classic exchange, and thought some of you may enjoy it (not everyone here watches the show):
Stephen Colbert: Why shouldn't people be allowed to smoke where they want? John Banzhaf: Why shouldn't people be allowed to masturbate where they want? Stephen Colbert: I ask myself that question every day.
Thanks to Ross for making me a trusted user for CSI: Miami. There's not much else to mention. I haven't yet applied for that CNET job. Missribs said she doesn't know what their policy is for relocation... wonderful. :P Current Rank: I Broke TV.com (Shatterdaymorn) Current Level: 51 (80%) Submission Status: Accepted: 14524 Pending: 1 Denied: 156 Total: 14681

Update - Feb 07, 2006

Well, I'm back up and running after a brief downtime this afternoon. My DVD burner was delivered and I got it installed. My first burn seemed to go just fine and one of the DVDs I couldn't get to run on the old DVD drive seemed to load just fine on the new one. On the submission front, I slowed down yesterday. This past weekend, I went a bit crazy, submitting over 400 submissions, which is what I used to, "back in the day." Since then, things have tapered off quite a lot. I noticed CNET has another Data Producer job open for TV.com. I considered applying, but it seems you have to live in San Francisco. The problem is I don't live there, not even close. CNET would have to pay for my relocation, and I doubt they'd do that. Perhaps a staff member could tell me. ;) (Missribs, anyone around?) Update - Feb 06, 2006

Anyone else watch the Super Bowl? I watched most of it, expecting a pretty good game. I thought this year's game was better than the commercials, which were largely mediocre, with only a few good ones. My DVD burner should be here tomorrow, so I'm a little anxious about it. Also, my mouse has been giving me fits. I use a Logitech Marble Mouse, and it seems I have to buy a new one each year or two. Update - Feb 03, 2006

Things are pretty quiet here at home. I haven't had much time to submit much recently. I've stayed out of the forums for a day or two for the most part, just checking the CSI forums. One thing I'm looking forward to is my new DVD burner, which is being shipped via UPS. Unfortunately, it's not schedule to be delivered until sometime next week, which is disappointing. I'm rather anxious to get it. It's time to replace an old DVD-ROM drive in by PC because it seems to have a lot of problems reading newer DVDs. Also, I'd like to be able to backup some of my movies. For you curious folks, the new drive is an NEC ND-3550A. I just hope everything goes smoothly with the shipping and the installation. Attn X-Files Fans (Take 2)

This is a little warning for those of you looking to buy the new X-Files DVDs. The content ISN'T THE SAME as the old DVD release. Instead of 7 discs, we only get 6. I pre-ordered the first three seasons from Overstock.com over Christmas, and they were delivered today. I opened up the first season, and much to my surprise, there were only 6 discs, and practically no extras. The few which are there are a few deleted scenes (VERY few) and a few "International Clips," which are basically nothing more than clips of the episode in a different language. If you look at the Original Release Page (http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/releaseinfo.cfm?ReleaseID=5), it says 7 discs and 1152 minutes. My NEW set is 6 discs and 1089 minutes according to the back. Seasons 2 and 3 look the same as the first, with 99% of the extras being stripped out of the set. Season 1 - 6 discs - 1152 min Season 2 - 6 discs - 1124 min Season 3 - 6 discs - 1071 min I found the relative lack of details from FOX as something may be up. All they said was "new packaging." We now know it's code talk for "we're basically only giving you the episodes." I know some fans of the show will be okay with these DVDs, but they need to know what you're getting, and it certainly isn't much in terms of extras. If you still have your old release(s), and you're happy with them, I'd recommend keeping them. Personally, I'm rather disappointed with this.

Update - Jan 30, 2006

There's not a whole lot to mention today. I think I've done enough complaining over the past two weeks. This morning, the post office delivered the first three seasons of The X-Files, which is being re-released tomorrow. If you're looking for a good deal, check my blog post below. You won't find a better deal than that! Current Rank: Airwolf Current Level: 50 (79%) Submission Status: Accepted: 13791 Pending: 35 Denied: 155 Total: 13981

Attn X-Files Fans

I know not everyone who visits my blog is a fan of The X-Files, but a few are. Best Buy has a great deal on the new re-releases of the first three seasons. They're just $34.99 each. Also, if you buy all three seasons (4-9 will be released later), they will take $30 off of your receipt. You just have to make sure that you buy them all at the same time. I'm starting to regret pre-ordering mine, even though I still got a good deal. With this deal, you almost get a season for free.

Anything new happening with anyone? It's quiet around here. The bugs seem to be driving people into hiding or just away from the site... Anyway, I was given Trusted User access to a few guides, thanks to TVTome_Shadow and KristinCat. I also picked up the Digging For The Truth guide. I don't forsee gaining any additional Editorships until they overhaul the way new shows are accepted. I'm still backlogged with things from this past weekend's tv show marathons. I don't mind two or three hours in a row, but five or more is a bit much. Current Rank: Airwolf Current Level: 50 (75%) Submission Status: Accepted: 13487 Pending: 0 Denied: 155 Total: 13642
