@Iloveconnie I suppose it's the sensibilities I take home from work. I manage a biotechnology start-up, and the idea of money I rightfully earned going to generic drug makers really stings me, so that effects how I think about it. I do only mean a few dollars to support the work people do. I don't actually have many friends who game so that's hypothetical.
Whatever you think of the idea philosophically, there is no legal framework that allows you to lend games to your friend (as they are software and therefore first-sale doesn't apply, and you are technically leasing the contents from the publisher).
@McGregor Yes, despite what some people on here seem to think - AAA is solely to do with budget. It's the game equivalent of tent-pole film. And like films (think the $200m budget travesty that was John Carter) the quality of the product does not affect that title, unless you wish to add 'failure of a...' as a prefix.
I assume the dude is talking a B games as those which cost a few million to make? Maybe 2-10 million?
@erMonezza @aloufika In Heavy Rain there are dozens of paths through the narrative, so you have great control over what experience you have. In most games the only control you have is in what order you shoot the guys who pop up, and what you shoot them with. I find most FPS far more like a movie than a truly interactive experience like HR.
@Meta_Dragon Blu-Ray is almost always region free. Many DVD's are region free.
I live in Australia and find it significantly cheaper to buy games and Blu-Ray movies from the UK (with free shipping) than to buy DVD from a discount store here. All region-locking does is allow retailers to price-gouge in certain areas.
@Facelord I think what they mean by the importance of PS+ going forward is not that it'll be necessary to use the PS4 (for those who don't which to, or can't, subscribe), but rather that it'll be integral to their marketing and feedback systems. Auto-updates, a vast number of users plugged into the network and the community allowing them to showcase their line-ups and keep customers/gamers involved and paying attention.
If you're the type of gamer who is often on forums or watching gameplay trailers and demos it sound like the perfect thing. Pay for PS+ and you can play those demos, get early content, with a range a free games to boot.
@junglist101 So they gave you a few things for free, and now you think everything should be free? Because they don't need to pay the devs or staff at all do they?
I can't think of a damn thing to do with basic functionality that I've had to pay for in the last 6 years. So, what are you talking about?
