One of the many reasons why I stopped playing BF3. That game had so much potential.

[QUOTE="The_Game21x"]Nice (but expected) spin. Okay, let's throw out the AAA scores from GameSpot. Now explain how the rest of the AAA scores were the result of bribes. Kane04No one ever said bribe. Tinfoil much? Inside the spoiler tag you'll find the scans of a magazine (source), on the following quote I have the text neatly translated for you. Now this guy I'm gonna quote was a journalist and editor at EDGE magazine UK, don't even need to say how much more credible is words are than any reply you can come up with for this. There was a part 1 (you'll see I only post the 2 and 3) but that first part was mostly unrelated to this matter. And this is my cue to leave, I know rules are softer now but still this is getting a bit off hand, and honestly I don't much care what rocks your boat as long as you're happy. That was 9 years ago, if you think now a days, that theres a lot more money ridding on this industry, things are different and everything is pink and what the press says pure truth and can be used as some form of evidence to back up your claims.................
I still have a post from earlier (you know, the first one I made in response to your post), and I do believe you have yet to respond to it. Sir, you must be awesome at dodge ball because you seem to enjoy ducking out whenever **** hits the fan.

Secondly, its because (and I have no idea why) game critics don't make use of the 10 point scale. For most, 7 would be considered average when really it should be 5. Thats why I go to Eurogamer for my reviews, they are well written and they actually make use of the 10 point scale. So when a game scores a 6 on Eurogamer, I'm not going to be totally put off because that probably equates to about a 7.5 here.

And then when EG does eventually hand out an elusive 9 or 10, you know you've got something special on your hands.
And film critics tend to be a lot more...critical. Look at your favourite movie on Metacritic, one you'd assume would be up in the 80s or 90s. It's probably sitting in the low 60s, which would be considered average for a video game.
Also, any game below 75 on Metacritic gets put in to the "yellow bracket" as opposed to the positive "green bracket" of 76 and up, while a film has to go below 60 to achieve that.
They're just totally different mediums and are rated and interpreted as such.
I understand they are different mediums of entertainment. I just think 8 or 9's shouldn't be handed out as much. Honestly, it's just a matter of opinion since it's relative to the other titles within that specific medium. I truly think 5 should be average and 9 should be God-tier.
Again, it's just preference and it is what it is. So who cares? This thread is already ridiculously off topic.
I'm still waiting on Kane to answer my original post from like, 5 pages ago though.
[QUOTE="The_Game21x"]
[QUOTE="Kane04"] You know what else is "successful" and sold millions, and millions of people can't be wrong and they'll overlook anything bad about it like its not even there or excuse it and defend "how great it is" like their life's depended on it?
Master_ShakeXXX
Big difference.
Twilight is critically panned. Halo is loved by fans and critics.
Go ahead and spin that one too.
Film critics don't drop to their knees and start handing out 10s everytime the next big mega blockbuster comes out like game critics do. Film critics actually do their job.
This thread is wildly off-topic at this point, but I'm glad someone else noticed this as well. The average game review score has got to be much higher than the average film score. I'm not sure if this is true, but it definitely feels that way. If someone is willing to gather the info I'd give them a nice high five.

What!?! Green armor!? That's ridiculous! All armor should be...black? I'm not sure I'm new at this.
balfe1990
You'll have to consult Kane04, he's the local authority on what colour schemes armour should adopt.
He still won't respond to my original post. I'm just gonna stay away from green from now on. Just to be sure.

[QUOTE="FireSpirit117"]You've got me all wrong. I don't have anything against legitimate concern or scrutiny. Ahhh okay we are in agreement then. Kane does make my day. Seriously, his claim about body armor not making sense in a futuristic world is awesome!
And the fact that it's green is the cherry on top.
GREEN ARMOUR=BAD GAME, that's just like a law in the gaming space.
What!?! Green armor!? That's ridiculous! All armor should be...black? I'm not sure I'm new at this.
Indeed. As an honest and long-time Halo fan (own all the games, read most of the books) it is truly disappointing. Weapon loadouts are one thing because there aren't a ton to choose from and it gets rid of all the AR vs. -insert utility weapon here- debates regarding starters. But perks? Progressive unlocking system? Ugh. It reeks of selling out. Spartan Ops, Custom Games, and Campaign are all that interest me now. That's not to say I don't value those things, but I never thought I'd see the day where I was completely disinterested in online Halo. It's a damn shame, to be frank.enterawesome
Join the club. Oh well, maybe we're all wrong. I somehow doubt that, but hopefully.
[QUOTE="jhalter1"][QUOTE="FireSpirit117"]I like the direction this thread went. It's a lot more interesting than the stock hater comments left in the first few pages.FireSpirit117
Just because someone may not like the direction Halo is headed in doesn't mean he/she is a hater.

[QUOTE="jhalter1"]I never complained about the design, I was complaining about the color, scroll down to read my original first 2 posts. Then someone took it that direction to, again, excuse it. Its silly green and its a silly complain YES my beef with Halo is that it has a LOT of silly things that piled up makes up for a LOT of silliness, then wrap all that in not one original idea and I can't see why people think its like the second coming of jebus. Its a cool game to play, and it does play nicely with a control, I had a lot of fun with the 2 (the first levels on earth anyway mostly) but its far from the master piece people try to pass it for.WAIT WHAT'S THIS!?!?

Because it was long and the answers for it are on my previews post, no point in copy paste it all over again. I stand by my arguments, unlike some people that make a "funny" and think they won or proven me wrong. No arguments = autoFail. And that goes for personal attacks to, but then again i wouldn't expect much more from hardcore halo fans.Hey you didn't address the rest of my post.

"Theres a reason why warriors stopped using full body armor when the gun as invented, but NVM that, this is Halo, nothing has to make sense"
-You said this. This is what I was debating. You implied that there is a reason that warriors stopped using armor. I'm sorry, but the above quotation is wrong. Warriors did not stop wearing full body armor because it doesn't make sense. They stopped wearing it (full body armor; they still wear armor of some sort, nobody runs into battle naked)because firearms development outpaces armor on humans, unfortunately. It makes perfect sense within the Halo universe sir.
NO. You atill haven't addressed a majority of the things I brought up from your post.
Let us go through the things you have not addressed.
THIS IS WHAT YOU IGNORED.
"...and still they didn't even bother trying to make the game MS was promising."
-What exactly did Microsoft promise, in regards to Halo 3? Also, how did Bungie fail to meet this standard set by their publisher?
THIS IS WHAT YOU IGNORED.
"All the current mindless and empty modern FPSs just copied the formula, along with a multiplayer where all (sic) you is run around looking for people to kill with no finesse and depth to it what so ever."
-Please elaborate.Specifically, the "depth" and "finesse" parts.

"...so much better than Halo 3 (that was previously said by them to be the best thing since the big bang)."
-Alright! So it looks like you enjoy using excessive hyperbole. Can you please point out which reviewers, if any, explicitlystated that reach is "...so much better than Halo 3" or"...(that was previously said by them to be the best thing since the big bang)?"Honestly, I would like to know which reviewers said Halo 3 was the best thing since the big bang. You need to stop using hyperbole, it ends up making your argument look ridiculous.Although, I am asking you to clarify because I may have misinterpreted what you were trying to say.
THIS IS WHAT YOU IGNORED.
"Mindless level design, where half the places and props in them you can't even tell what the hell that is, whats it used for and what was that place build for when there aren't any shooting going on. "
-Please elaborate.

"MGS was that good on a PS1"
-PLEASE take a look at this. The sound is annoying so just turn it off, but pay attention at about the 6:20 mark. Man! The way he punches that guy and causes him to do the world's fastest flip is just pure awesome. Such great animation, absolutely on par with Reach. /s

"if its that good why did it need that much promotion?"
-Sir, why would Microsoft advertise the biggest franchise on their console? Why would they do that? I can't possibly think of a single reason why Microsoft would throw millions of dollars at advertising this particular franchise, which happens to be the face of Xbox. It MUST be because the game is trash, and not because Microsoft would throw a stupid amount of money at advertisement to move consoles. Nope, that can't be it, Halo must be trash. That's the only logical conclusion we can draw from video game advertisements.Don't you dare act like you answered this. We all know it makes way more sense that Microsoft wanted to move consoles, as oppsed to covering up Halo's supposed "suck." Honestly if you have an issue with this logic please see the following link:

"but the reviewers somehow didn't notice any of that because Halo is not rated like any other game."
-Here is a line from a Halo 2 review from this very website,"Some unsightly graphical issues."Boom. Would you look at that, it's almost as if you lied when you said reviewers didn't notice. Isn't that crazy?
THIS IS WHAT YOU IGNORED.
"its a PS3 exclusive get outta here because it can never be good enough so lets kill it in the reviews as a result it never had a chance in sales no the industry won't move that way."
Are you kidding me? Do you honestly believe that reviewers just automatically HATE the PS3 exclusives? Can you provide some kind of proof? Anything? Honestly, this looks kind of bad. I would greatly appreciate it if you could provide some proof of this.
THIS IS WHAT YOU IGNORED.
"but remember who popularize the run and gun, one room after the other, over and over and over and over again? Halo: Combat Evolved"
-Yeah, that might have been Quake that did that. Let's be real here, Halo has drawn a lot of inspiration from pc shooters. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Quake popularized it. If I happen to be wrong, feel free to correct me.
