@stunningham: Yeah you can drastically alter your playthroughs when you consider all the different choices you are faced with, the three origin paths and the varied character builds.

@bdrtfm: The only thing Cyberpunk and GTA seem to have in common is the large city open world, guns and cars. And I couldn't be happier because I'm not into GTA either.

Cyberpunk is basically an immersive sim (think Deus Ex: Human Revolution) set in a vast and ridiculously detailed city (+ outskirts). Clever quest design, branching and intricate storylines (main & side), choices and consequences, deep character abilities customization. Given CDPR's previous work and early game impressions, all the things I mentioned are guaranteed. The only thing Cyberpunk is prone to be lacking is a great combat system but we'll have to wait and see about that.

@cybuster_88: Yeah I'm a bit burned out on Marvel movies. They need to refresh MCU in one way or another. Either with a Spiderman multiverse movie (the rumors of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield reprising their roles are too good to be true) or even the long awaited arrival of the X-Men.

@tidus_ff: The Reapers could still be a part of Mass Effect in some other form. For example, make the Destroy ending canon (sorry Control and Synthesis people) and explore its repercussions on the galaxy and how humanity (and the other species) cope with it and start anew.

They could use Drew Karpyshyn's original idea of dark matter as a basis and delve deeper into the nature of biotic powers. Have the species expand on other reaches of the Milky Way and clash with newly discovered alien civiliazations as well as among themselves in a race of who will make a breathrough first in regards to dark matter. Heck, even bring back Shepard who could have barely survived the battle and was put in cryostasis to be revived when technology advances again to a point of being able to heal him/her.

There is definitely future for Mass Effect wthout having to race against time once again to defeat the Reapers.

@Barighm: Gameplay was definitely one of Andromeda's strong points. However, it's safe to say the vast majority of people remember the trilogy so fondly because of its epic story, characters and lore, rather than the combat mechanics.

@moonwatcher99:You can hold it up against the first Mass Effect and it still falls short of most comparisons. Andromeda's writing was lazy and mediocre at best. Generic alien ruins to explore, an even more generic antagonist (Saren >>>> The Archon) and a bland protagonist. They can still salvage the Andromeda storyline as long as they improve their writing.

@sippio: But we already know most of what happened during those events. There will be no real stakes or mystery to unravel. I'd rather they told a fresh story just like Andromeda but not lame.

Normally I would be head over heels for a new Mass Effect but given Bioware's recent track record I just can't trust them on delivering a game worthy of the trilogy's legacy. Inquisition and Andromeda were decent games but failed to live up to their predecessors. And then we have Anthem which was a failure beyond description. Andromeda was a great opportunity to move the franchise forward and recapture the wonder of discovering a new corner of the galaxy, but it failed.

Pessimism aside, I'm curious whether they'll pick up that storyline or start fresh. On one hand it's going to be a shame leaving that story unfinished but on the other hand does anyone really care? And to be honest I kind of miss the Milky Way. Our galaxy is vast so there is definitely space for new places, lore and species to discover.

Though I'm against any idea of a prequel like the First Contact war. I want to feel the excitement of a brand new adventure and story. And even though bringing back Shepard would be a cheap move, it would actually be amazing getting in his shoes once more.

@tidus_ff: As much as I love the trilogy, I really don't want them to bring back the Reaper threat. Despite poor reception to the ending, that story is said and done. Reviving it would only undermine its significance.

Mass Effect needs to move forward and put players in a place of discovering the wonders of the universe once more. Kinda like what Andromeda attempted to do but failed.

@banjora: I just came here to comment the same. Todd Howard said nothing about a new game engine. It's an overhaul of the existing engine as opposed to a mere upgrade.
