Fat kid got tagged...

It would appear that I'm the latest victim of this game of tag floating about GameSpot (thank you, clownofpoetry...:P ), so here goes...

1. I can carry a tune in a falsetto that can damn near break glass. It doesn't sound great due to a nose that has been broken (7 times) to the point that the right side doesn't work correctly, but it's on key and I can put some volume into it. This is especially strange because my father sounds like he swallowed Barry White.

2. Keeping with the music theme, I play several musical instruments, bass most proficiently. I can also play just about any brass instrument competently, at least keep a beat on drums, and can plunk a chord or two out on a guitar.

3. I had my driver's license taken away a month after my 21st birthday because I got too many speeding tickets. I've gotten one in the eight-plus years since.

4. I am a massive baseball fan, and in an area overpopulated with St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs fans, I'm a RABID Chicago White Sox fan...have been since I was old enough to know what baseball was. And since there are pictures of me with a wiffle bat wearing a Sox t-shirt at about age 3, I'd say it's been awhile.

5. And finally, I am also a card carrying, banner-waving member of the KISS Army. Feel free to laugh if you like, but Gene Simmons is the reason I picked up a bass in the first place (although as I've gotten older I've grown weary of his self-salesmanship). I chased them all over Illinois and Indiana when they were on their "farewell" tour back in 2000 (I think it was 2000 anyway).

Well, that's it...who to tag...hmmm. How's about waflerevolution, rudyroundhead, totalgridlock, duncanr2n, and _bear. If you wanna do it, great. If you don't or have already been tagged, that's cool too. I was just picking names out of my ear.

Interview with a...pirate?

If you hike over to the Candid Collectors' Union, you'll see that I've been chosen as the next in a series of interviews we're doing. Take a look, leave a comment, make fun of how utterly terrible I look in the picture. And while you're there, you might want to join...it's a pretty cool place to hang out. Special thanks to aspro73 for putting it together.

You know what the best part of the whole interview is? I'm # 007! :D

I am now Elite!

After the death of my 360 Pro on January 12th, I decided that my replacement would be an Elite. I got my refund card for the full purchase price two weeks ago and I've been waiting ever since. Many times over the last couple weeks, I've debated just buying another Pro just so I could play the 30 or so Xbox 360 games I've accumulated.

Well, today my patience paid off. I generally turn my phone off when I go to bed. My sister was frantically calling and texting me trying to let me know that Elites had been restocked. I got up and turned my phone on...it blew up. Luckily they were still in stock when I got online and ordered my console. Here's the rundown...

Microsoft 360 Elite: $449.99
Illinois Sales Tax: $28.31
Shipping & Handling: $7.99

Subtotal: $486.29

Best Buy Protection Plan Refund: -$430.78
Best Buy Rewards Zone Certificate: -5.00

Total Out of Pocket: $50.51

While being 360-less for a month and a half has been relatively detrimental to my GamerScore, I will soon be back at it. I can't wait!

Finished Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II (PS2)

It started as something to rest between sessions of Scarface, but I wound up finishing the second Baldur's Gate. The review will probably be up tomorrow. I'd do it now, but I've inexplicably been awake since 4 am. I think I'll go to bed now.

Step 2: Hurry up and...wait?

I received my store credit for my dead 360 today. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened it and saw that it was in the amount of $430.78 (the actual purchase price + Illinois sales tax). I was afraid that it would be for the now reduced shelf price. At any rate, I'm now waiting for the website to get some Elites in stock. I settled for the Pro last time around...might as well get what I want this time, eh?

Step 1: Put your...ahem...360 in a box.

The ball is rolling. I shipped off the corpse of my 360 to the good folks at Best Buy today. Now I wait for my gift card...which had better be for the amount I paid and not for the now-reduced shelf price, or there will be consequences!!!

New Review

Well, I'm finally feeling better...not perfect, but better. I'm back at work so I decided to go ahead and review Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance (PS2). Enjoy.

Finished Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance (PS2)

What's the best thing about having your 360 red-ring on you? You now get to play through all those last gen (and earlier) games that you'd been neglecting since you got your shiny new toy.

At any rate, I finished off Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. I had started it when my modem decided it didn't like my 360 anymore, but put it aside when I fixed that problem and started in on Assassin's Creed. I went through and finished off the last quarter or so tonight.

A review will be up shortly...perhaps when I start feeling somewhat human again.
