Not sure how much help I can offer. I have a Samsung monitor connected to my PS3 with a resolution a bit higher than 1080p. I only received that message with my computer. It never tells me that with the PS3. Have you tried just setting it at 720p and leaving it at that? There might be some settings under the settings tab for PS1 games about upscaling and whatnot you could fool around with.

Also have you tried hooking the PS3 up directly to the monitor and skipping the coupler?

yeah I've tried to set it at 720p (which is awful quality anyway) and I tried changing up scaling on the ps1 games and in video settings, I'm going to test it without the coupler next.

Edit: without the coupler, I still have the same problem.

Edit 2: I tested it a bit more and messed around with the monitor's settings as well, and the message has disapeared whilst on PS3 games or the dashboard when the resolution is set to 720p (and it looks a lkot better than before, not sure why) b ut i still have the same problem whilst playing the Downloaded PSone games, it mustr be something to do with the fact that it's runninbg at 50hz and a lower resolution, but changing the upscaling options for the ps1 games has had not affect, which makes me think it could be something to do with the refresh rate maybe?

I'm running my ps3 via HDMI to DVI connection through a DVI merger into the monitor (pictured below, left input is the PS3, white one connects the monitor, right is the PC connection) and whenever I switch to the ps3 display, I get an error message in the middle of the screen saying

'Not Optimum Mode

Recommended Mode

1680x1050 60Hz

Digital'

Photobucket

At first, this wasn't too much trouble as I can just use the buttons on the monitor to clear the error message and it wouldn't come back unless I switched the display or went on a different game. But the real problem came when I went to play a ps1 game that I had downloaded off the PSN store, this message kept popping up mid game, every minute or so, and eventually the screen would go totally black with that message floating around the screen meaning I'd have to switch the display to PC and back to the PS3 again, which pretty much makes the game unplayable.

Now I'm pretty sure it's a problem with the Resolution or refresh rate, but having tried every setting on the ps3 (from 576 to 1080p. it may be worth noting that 1080i is what the automatically detected resolution defaults to) none make any difference and I'm all out of ideas.

Has anyone else had this problem and found any solution? A quick google search seems to suggest it's a problem with the monitor or atleast samsung monitors in general but there aren't too many people around who set their ps3 up through their monitor.

Firstly, why does anyone find Jay Z or Kanye 'fishy'!? (response to a poster above)

Secondly, the only thing the music want to control is what music you listen to or what annoying pre-teen joke they want school girls to scream at this year.

Hold the race on the version of that track with no chicanes on the long straight and I would, although I think the Veyron is over rated, it has the turning circle of a boat, by all accounts

while not discontinued, it's been 10 years since I've been to the US, and 10 years since I've had proper Mountain Dew. The British stuff just isn't as good :(.
