since we didnt answer his question directly, ill go ahead. saying that, go ahead. By the time you any real issues come out, the RC2 will be out,a nd you can jsut do a build to build. Most likely DX 11 games will be bad on RC version. still, use it. i've been using it since its release and i havnt had a problem.

Ok, i have a BFG 8800GT OC, and it runs pretty cool, 50c load. but i see other people's who's fans run at like, 3k rpm max. mine runs at 11k? is there something wrong. i know this is good, but, will it wear out the card? also, i ahve 2 socket 775 spare fans attatched to my mobo, think it would help the temp if i placed 1 in front of the card fan, and one in the back to pull heat off the chipset?

You cant max Crysis! . 04dcarraher

This, my good fried, is very untrue. In a normal sense, yes, but you can max it with quad sli setup of gtx 280's or Dual GTX 295'. Just wait for the GTX 315.

And back to the topic, Your brother doesn't know alot. Intel's Cpu's are much better. Its ture. They run cooler, quieter, last longer, and the overclock on the Core 2 quad and sli are uncomparable. Just get a Core 2 quad Q6600, overclockable board, and a gtx 295. Tell him if he doesnt like it, buy it himself. That is the best you will get for a reasonable price.

Well it really depends. if your a hardcore gamer, id reccomend the 275, because most games now'a days are built for nvidia chips. the only ones i think are ati are the farcry engines, etc. The 4890 is a nice card, but for the price, get an X2 for a little more, or choose another nvidia for a little less. 9800GTX's are getting cheap. you could buy 2 for about 250, and sli. also, the 260 is a very nice overclocker, and ive heard, when overclocked, can very well outerform the 275.

Dr_Brocoli

Wrong. Just because a game has a splash screen advertisement for Nvidia does not means it will run much better for Nvidia. Most cases the ATI would outperform the Nvidia anyway.

When did i say splash screen? and it will run better on nvidia because alot of games are based on the nvidia phys-x systems, and their Quality rendering. look it up. And just because the ati has higher "memory bandwith" or clocks, doesn't mean anything. they calculate them different ways. nvidias GDDR3 is just as good as GDDR4 or 5. And nvidia can not only OC higher, but generally prove to be better in high performance games. and lets face it, he doesn't want these cards to play Doom. So, in most cases, nvidia will outpeform it. If he wants to play games like crysis, fallout 3 and other games of sort. Maybe ati will outperform in mirrors edge, but thats the best he'll get, IMO.

Sorry to say, i think your bios is dead. Clear signs. you flashed it and it doesnt turn on(controls power) no lights turn on(cant unless told to by bios) no sounds(motherboard wont make sounds unless the bios chip wakes it up and tells it to do a cmos and post boot test) So, unless you can get another bios chip, your motherboard may be fried. Im almost positibe it is this. did it work after you flashed your bios, or did it stop working after?

Windows 7 has DX 11 and 10 support, if im correct. Yes thats right, DX 11. Id go with Rc1 64bit. and I would reccomend vista. If you get Sp1 and service pack 2 beta, remove user account and then remove all the limitations and secutriy features, its a really good os. and all that takes maybe an hour or 2. Besides i agree with the no xp, in september XP will be discountinued from new releases from msoft. Ex..drivers etc. and ubuntu is pretty nice, but only if you want a big os control. its not the most user firndly, but if you dont mine typing in codes to open things, i 100% reccomend ubuntu. Either way, 7,vista or ubuntu
