Game = PC
Non Gamer = Mac
Or a Macbook Pro if you can afford it.
But the Macbook Sucks at games because of integrated graphics.
Also their are rumors of a Updated Macbook With Dedicated Graphics and larger screen.

I say mac if your a console person. Just say no to the iMac because its kinda too much for the specs (But not apples fault. The same clockspeed laptop Core2 costs 3x As much. They really need a mid tower)
But Macbook + Macbook Pro is Good. Also the mini is ok But has a GMA_950 but if you dont PC game not a issue. Also the minis are "suposedly" Getting a 7600

They are competitively priced against similar systems (Mac Pro = Workstation/Mini = SFF pc/Macbook = Core2 Laptop/Macbook Pro = Mobile Workstation? )
The imacs kinda odd though. If they ever realese a around 800$ Tower i will switch.

If you own a 360, or plan on it, PCs that run can Media Center and use the 360 as a Media Center extender, and wirelessly stream music, HD and SD moveis, and photos to your TV, which I really enjoy. Then again, as I am a Mac noob I don't really know if this could also be accomplished with a dual boot mac system running Vista (or if Macs can run Vista.) But either way, a Windows Media Center/Vista PC and a 360 go together like chocolate and peanut butter. I love it.

Somebody made a mac Version of it(Runs in OSX) dunno where it is but google it.

Damn, I knew 180 dollars for a 8600 Ultra was too cheap!

And ya, its better to get the next higher chip than to get 256 more MB of video memory. Definately a marketing ploy.

mrbojangles25
Well some games and Res's Get Bottlenecked. See also the 320 GTS getting 14fps @ 21** x 19** Of course nobody has a 30" Monitor But yeah its mostly marketing like when i saw a 512MB x1300 :p

[QUOTE="jsl99944704"][QUOTE="DGFreak"][QUOTE="ch5richards"]P4, PD, and C2D use 775. It is the chipset that determines what can run and what can't. I don't think Intel uses anything other than 775 right now (except with servers) bluealien2
My mistake.

If I were you I'd ditch that PSU for this one...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817153023

I have it, it's a wonderful budget PSU, and it's by a highly recommended brand for PSU's...

As for the rest of your rig, it's pretty good, but I wouldn't throw my money away on a Pentium D, I would just put that torward a C2D, paying 120$ for the PD, then getting a C2D, is a waste of money, IMO...

What about this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817153042 ?

Well, I didn't recommend that one, becuase he seems to be on a pretty tight budget, and thats 60$ more then the one I recommended...

..I thought you reccomended it to me. Im ok with the price and i know i will need power when DX10 gets big (I dont wanna have to upgrade the psu so better go with a good one now.

[QUOTE="jsl99944704"]Well i think The PD is better because of Dual Core and im Running LOTS of programs at once. And the Price gap is pretty close (Bout 20$)DGFreak
The Pentium D doesn't use the same socket as a Core2 Duo, the p4 does. The Pentium D was little more than a failed experiment in dual core processing and I think the p4 may actually give you better performance.

Well It says LGA775 and The Mobo http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16813121035\ Says "CPU Type Core 2 Extreme / Core 2 Duo / Pentium D / Celeron" ..

Is this Good?

500Watt PSU
7600 Gs
1/2GB DDR2
Pentium D 925 3.0Ghz (Later to be upgraded to Core2)
Intel Mobo
250GB Drive
18x Sony Dvd?

The actual Products are.
  1. http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16827131038
  2. http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16822148144

  9. http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16811119068
Now that is just for now. Eventualy after Core2's Drop (Although this is gonna be a few months from now so it may happen inbetween then) And DX10 Matters i would upgrade.
Is that a good Machine for Now?

The C2D option would be best... Just wait... it would be kindof harsh to get a mobo... No just wait... I know it's hard but it will be well worth the wait... And I would get a 8600 GT or Ultra instead of the 7950GT... They should be near the same speed or a touch slower with support for Shader Model 4.0 (the stuff that DX 10 supports but that can be run with Open GL just fine).KSlater85
Yeah i know. I heard the 7*** series was going to slowly be replaced by the 8*** series. I hope i could get a 8600 Ultra when the time comes. But what could let me wait?
