I'd lock it too if I were in the demoing stage.  Playing on big screens for presentations.  You lock it under specs and have no embarrising bugs or slowdowns.  Then unlock it come release.

I would probably shelve the steambox too after seeing the PS4's specs.  It seams they will be beat to the punch.  Now if Sony could just work a deal with Steam oh man oh man.

I see no core games there so it's inline with a core gamers system.  Go play those games on your 1999 PC or smartphone and you won't miss out.

Article was dated 2/6/2013  and so did not have updated PS4 specs.  Also it did not even compare the system in the article so what is up with your topic title?!?

Because GDDR5 ram is the ram that is used in Video Cards not System Memory.  It is extrememly fast and expensive compared to it's GDDR3 counterpart.  It has never been used as system RAM until Sony designed the PS4.  Pretty cool, huh?

For the first time in my 30 years of gaming I am starting to agree PC gaming is now truly on the decline and will be more so with these new systems.  Now if you would just add keyboard and mouse support (bluetooth would be nice) and MMO's I'll be perfectly happy not having to upgrade my monster machine anymore.  Also being disabled my computer chair gaming days are numbered if not already a thing of the past.

MS is stuck in the past still drooling over the loss sales from the original wii.  They won't give up on the Kinect and will try to shove the technology down unwanting throats.  Their core specs will be dragged down because of kinect taking up too much of the budget to allow anything else than inferior to the Ps4.  If you like kinect you'll like the nextbox.  If you like paying for online you'll like the nextbox.  If you like games running a little slower and being a little less crisp then buy a nextbox.
