You are totally right about this. Despite all their mistakes, Nintendo has a much larger profit margin than MS and Sony. Heck, the MS games division just barely breaks even despite being the "champion" of this generation. Personally, I think the Wii U is a great idea because it actually encourages local multiplayer. I'm one of those old gamer who prefers to play games in my living room with a group of friends instead of online. One of the worst things about the PS3 and XBox 360 has been the death of split-screen. So far, the next gen looks to be continuing with that trend. If I wanted to play games in a room by myself, I'd upgrade my PC.As games became multiplats they sell to an established playerbase of 100's of millions of gamers. Nintendo titles can only sell to an established playerbase of their own making.

It is only natural that Nintendo games have relatively lower budgets over time, and it becomes more noticeable as expenses in the industry rise.
Then why be pro Nintendo or have any hope for Nintendo?
The two downsides of Sony's and Microsofts strategies are enormous and disastrous in the long term:
- It is financially not viable to keep gambling on mass sales. (Maximizing potential profit has led to a 'One strike and you're out.' industry.)
- They are making themselves obsolete. (Because everything goes multiplat it is quickly becoming an act of stupidity to buy one of their consoles let alone both.)
And MS is even worse by doing something completely atrocious:
- Shift all financial risks of development to the talent. (Invest in exclusive crap only if it has worked out. Let competitors create their system pushers.)
And are therefore making themselves obsolete even faster. They basically managed to make themselves not matter in one generation. I am curious what kind of trick they will pull out of their hat to reel in the Americans at the end of this month. But I do know one thing, it's bound to be a delusion of kinds.

Gamecube was considered a failure by many- I wouldn't exactly call it a success, myself. Apparently 1st party didn't save it :o
I've noticed that aside from the Wii's early fad, Nintendo seems to do poorly in consoles but really well in handheld.Âp3anut
It actually did, Nintendo's game division made more money than Sony and MS.
Microsoft was loosing money off their games divition until a couple years ago. Now they just barely break even. Sony is in the same boat too. Despite being considered last place, Nintendo is the only one in the hardware business that makes a profit. Between that and all the studio closures, I am really worried this whole industry is headed for a big collapse. Then Apple will jump in with some i-gamedevice and we will all be playing touch screen games on a home console, the irony of which will fly strait over eveyone's head.Good choices. I don't really even like wresting games, but Fight for New York was fun. Would also like to see a new Blood Omen/Soul Reaver.Bring back NBA Street, Def Jam Fight for NY style (not that icon garbage).

[QUOTE="judaspete"]Silent hill Shattered Memories and Resident Evil 4 are cool if you like survival horror.Pffrbt
Neither are survival horror though. RE4 is action horror and Shattered Memories is comedy/crap.
Alright, fair enough on Resident Evil, but it is a great action game and I highly recommend it. Shattered Memories was great, though I will say it's a pretty niche experience and can understand why some people don't much care for it.
