@CarlitosWay @RC-Sev @anybodykilla15 I think the threshhold for profitability was around 1mil players. When they announced it, I was sort of interested... then I played the beta and realized it was a star wars skinned WoW. To me, that's were they failed. They should have tried to separate themselves from it.
@CarlitosWay LOL They left me with such a cliffhanger that I had a breaker bug that wouldn't load the last level. After that and a couple of emails with Lucasarts, my interest definitely faded.
@VarietyMage @kagento It's not like I have a great connection, but I get by. In any case, if developers allow for user dedicated servers there should be no problem as long as there is a fanbase. There are plenty of long running online games that continue to be playable despite the lack of official support. Tribes 2 is an example of that. On consoles it's another matter though...
I played hours upon hours of Battlefront 2, and believe me when I say that that time would have been a tenth (to say the least) of what they really were without the online component (you can still play online with Battlefront 2!). Hell, I still pop in to give it a go every now and then.
Another one is obviously Battlefield 3... you know how much time I've dedicated to the campaign? 1 hour. I'd rather have no SP campaign if it means tacked on and forced on a game clearly orientated towards the MP... the same way I don't want an MP on a clearly SP experience.
@CarlitosWay @kagento @nocoolnamejim Hell, I don't know :D But if I were them I would start from scratch with a new story. Maybe even go with another time period.
@nocoolnamejim I wouldn't call it off. I think it's safe to assume that, after the fenomenal success of ME, a new KOTOR game is at the very least in EA's mind if not already in development.
@VarietyMage Mostly I agree. But there are games that greatly improve with online. Battlefront's campaigns where just there to get a taste of the game... the real deal was online.
