@coryseals1987 I agree that the hating is excessive and that PS fanboys are getting one back. However, it would be wrong to say that Microsoft hasn't screwed up with all this Xone process. They didn't explain nearly enough the advantages of the system and they introduced a big deal of user-unfriendly policies. It has made someone like me and many others that chose the 360 instead of the PS3 prefer the idea of the PS4.
I think the main issue Microsoft has had with the presentation is that attitude that lashed back at sony in the initial years of the PS3.
@raycpt Firaxis has made excellent expansions on their previous games. Personally, I'm more interested in expanding upon what they have before venturing into a sequel.
As XCOM stands right now, I think the new additions are more than welcome.
@raycpt Story isn't really the thing to expand upon imo. I keep returning to the game because of the gameplay and feel, and I'm interested in what this expansion adds to the game. If they were just adding some story I'm pretty sure I'd be less interested.
@Morphine_OD Already the need to capture live aliens pushes you to take a few risks if it means grabbing one alive, and the bomb levels already had that urgency. In any case, it is yet to be known how relevant and useful this meld resource will be.
@AggrandizedUser I don't know if you recall how it was when the Xbox 360 and PS3 launched. Everyone was hyped to death, mainly because the generational leap was very noticeable. I think it's due time they started to build on something new, I have all but abandoned my consoles in favour of my PC (albeit the occasional exclusive). All this because I found the market stagnant. No new IPs (with exceptions), just sequels of already set franchises (in Microsoft's case it's been only GoW and Halo). If by doing great you mean doing more of the same and taking little to no risks, you're spot on.
However, this new gen is probably the first in history that isn't all that different from what we're currently playing, and many of the games we have now will be the same in next gen; so it's understandable that expectation isn't all that high.
Despite that I have no intention to buy neither of the 2 systems, I think it was due time already to bring some life back in the industry; it really thrives on generational leaps.
