Well yeah, its a little quiet now, but this game is in development since (first xbox ?) and it was hyped some time ago as another ground breaking game for the platform, and I guess it stayed that way in most ppls minds. And the question is, not about the final quality, but your predictions for this title : )
Well, I would like to think that this game will be worth it, but so far gameplay and animations suck big time. Unfortunately IMO its going to be crap and its a shame that it is hyped. They should have dumped this project a while back, or hire someone who actually knows something about fighting mechanics and animation (like team from DMC4).
I still love a good MK3 match on a 360 and Tekken Online is just off the charts for me (the best experience since playing with dudes in high school : PPP). Now theres SC4 which is great, just got it couple days ago, playing Vader is massive (some complain he doesn't fit, well, f* it, hes a great character). And what about DBZ: Burstlimit ? I've been enjoying that online for couple of days now, and I must say its a masher (with tactics involved) but its just fun. So I guess, Yes, those games will always be appealing for hardcore fighter fans like myself : )
Good to know that you guys have similar view on things : ) I guess nowadays you can't just trust a review, even a bunch saying the same thing :/ (I want the old days of gamespot back, the old crew was much more reliable, you could see that they are as much hardcore gamers as we are, now its a bit of a shame :///// , but that may be just my opinion).
Gears Of War to be honest. Thats probably cause God Of War is not out on PS3 yet, so all the "GOW" related talk for the last 1,5 year was bout Gears. Which game is better ? You cant compare them so thats not the point I guess : P
I was hyped up for Lair since I saw the first trailer. Then the game came out and I read a lot of reviews, blaming this game for a lot of things. A lot of reviewers pointed out sloppy controls, chaos and weak story. Then I decided Ill buy the game anyway, I've finished it and I have to agree that you have to get used to the control scheme and you can find some minor draw backs here and there. But overall this is a GREAT GAME. I would give it honest 8,5/10. Fight mechanics are robust, you can do basically anything you would dream of riding a dragon. Six axis controls is the thing that really dragged me to the game. Yes, control scheme is a bit complicated and you can get frustrated a bit learning its pros and cons but on the other hand you can do SO MUCH during a fight. Graphics and soundtrack also get a +. Especially in cut scenes things look and sound smooth. It can really show off the potential of PS3. So why did this game received such poor marks in most reviews ? Maybe the reviewers were just too weak to master the game and get the real honey out of it ? Anyone else enjoyed this game ?
First 3D MGS on PSX was awsome, I hoped that sequel will be just as good, well I was wrong, it sucked a bit. I didn't get into 3 as well. Then I got a PS3 and 4th installment. First 2 hours were quite lame, invisible walls and story that didn't make much sense, but after that time, the rest was breathtaking ! Especially the second half, marvelous, all in all after finishing the game Im stunned. Yup, IT IS BETTER than MGS1 on PSX IMO ... which means a LOT : ) So why do I like it so much ? Well, story keeps you guessing through the most part, design is outstanding, all the concepts behind the game are really well done, outstanding graphics, music, a lot of THAT KIND OF MOMENTS, and when you get involved with the story you are sad when it ends and youre craving for more. Only other game that left me with this kind of feeling was FF7.
To be honest X360 is the best system atm and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending it to anyone interested in hardcore gaming. On the other hand, Im in a situation, where I've finished like 80% of really worthy games on 360 and there are not enough exclusives to get me excited. The other factor is the six-axis in PS3 (i know, its not used enough in games but still its a lot fresher to play Motorstorm with motion controls). So Im buying most of my games for the PS3 atm. (but Ive finished probably more than 40 games on my 360s over almost 2 years, so thats a bit different than considering it for the first time).
