Two weeks ago, i started a similar thread. marcpro and others were very helpful showing what products I could buy from newegg and build myself. however, If I DON"T do that, tell me if this computer from avadirect (a very reputable company on resellerratings.com) is a very good one at good price. cost is $1800 including postage adn handling.also any thoughts on avadirect? thanks!

- antec sonata elite mid-tower case ATX (also of course i7 920, gtx 295)

- thermaltake , toughpower, 80 plus, 750W

- crucial 3GB DDR3

- Microstar, X58 Platinum SLI, LGA 1366, intel X58, 6400 MTs QPI, DDR3-1600MHz (O.C) 24 GB...

- Western digital, 500 GB WD Caviar SE 16

windows Vista Home Basice 64 bit (did I hear that 64 bit doesn't play with many games like Empire total war? should I get 32 bit?)

noobeaters,

yeah, like I said the deal of the century for very high level i7 920--the lower price only comes around occassionally

It's good to hear from someone else that bought from them. how did you hear about them? can you tell us where we can get ANY information on the company, tech articles, etc? what was your experience with them, quality of build, and were you able to speak with them? if the computer has problems is it easy to talk with a technician?

have you heard of other people who have used the company? thanks a lot

stormfuzz told me in another post that the computer he bought was great and well made. he said that he found them in a tech article which compared them to other computer companies. I trust stormfuzz--all I'm asking is for the link to that article or any other people to collaborate that this company is legitimate (I can't find info when I google them)

stormfuzz said that they were a very small boutique shop--that might explain why I can't find more info on them. once a month they have incredible deals, which stormfuzz says can be so cheap because they are specials (I would think even specials would want to make a profit, and how can they do so if they are cheaper than newegg? and wouldn't the specials be for older comps they are trying to rid of rather than top of the line overclocked gtx295, i7 920s for $1700.00 including shipping?)...

on the other hand the fact that the website looks cheap with mispellings (sp?!) might just mean they are a small operation with non-English speaking techies from india or somewhere

basically, stormfuzz has been nice enough to point out this company to us. If true, it's the deal of a century. I feel badly that I've raised doubts about the validity of what he says. If we could just have A LITTLE more proof, it would be really appreciated!

You really have me intrigued by realmcomputers, after what you said in a thread before. but how do they have prices BELOW newegg's???

also, that build you told me about on sale just seems almost unbelievable (also cheaper than newegg prices). i may buy from them once they go on sale again, but it would really help if i could just get one or two more sources to collaborate that the company is legit. you did say before that they are a small boutique company that specializes in gamng comps--so perhaps that is the answer right there. I just hope it's not too good to be true!

thanks everyone for your advice. i've learned a lot. thanks cheesie and marcpro especially.

i said that i saw some bad reviews for cyberpowerpc on resellerratings.com, but it wasn't 50% bad computers--to the person who saw that claim in these forums, can you direct me to that discussion please? i think that reseller had them listed about 85% approval, it's just that those who had problems really had a hassle to get things fixed up.

cheesie,

I would absolutely use cyberpower, but I have read a few horror stories about having to return computers, poor packaging, very bad customer service on resellerratings.com and their own forum. What are your thoughts on that and have you heard from others who have had good experiences??

If I knew I would receive the comp, open the box and immediately start playing games I would certainly go with Cyberpower. Just a bit wary (although heard great things about digitalstorm as you say, but too expensive) thanks

marcpro,

YOU ARE THE MAN!!! THANKS!!! Should I worry about the fact that the gtx 950 doesn't have dx11 capability (or does it?)? How long would I have to wait to get a dx11 graphics card? You're awesome!

tommywine,

I have looked at the digitalstorm option bc of overclocking. In their forums, they seemed to say that it's good to by a v8 cooling source (or something like that, just below liquid cooling in price) and that they would overclock more, up to about 3.5 on a i7 920. is it worth buying the v8 for that amount of overclocking? was your overclocking less productive bc you didn't have the v8 (maybe just a cheaper cooling solution)?

does everyone agree what was written above? it doesn't matter if you overclock an i7 920 or not for today's games like crysis? What about games two or three years from now?
