My original plan was to buy all products on newegg and have Geeks to Go at Best Buy build the computer. However, they just told me they would charge $400 to build it! (I don't understand as someone there told me $120 a few months ago) I don't know of any other companies in atlanta near me that will build.

I can't decide between digitalstorm, which has awesome customer service and seems very dependable (and can overclock the i7 920, 295 gtx I want), or the MUCH cheaper cyberpowerpc or ibuypower, which are about 400-500.00 cheaper for the same computer. Reading their forums, it seems that MOST customers re happy with the cheaper companies, but some of the responses were really horrific (computers didn't work when they received them, bad customer service, etc.). Are these two companies trustable or must I go with digitalstorm???

are there any other DEPENDABLE companies a bit cheaper than digital storm???

Also, I am a computer illiterate IDIOT with NO TIME to build a computer!!!! Thanks.

anyone want to say more about the graphics card that might come out in april rivalling the gtx 295? do you think this will drive the price of the 295 signficantly down? the other card mentioned above was the Rv790 - is that also equal to the 295?

would there be a big difference in performance between a clocked and unclocked i7 920? if not, I will just buy the prebuilt unclocked

is there a big difference in performance between at gtx 285 and a gtx 295?

also what is the cheapest cooling or fan I could use for the overclocked i7? what is the least amount of wattage?

thanks

Digital storm has a prebuilt i7 920 with a gtx 285 card with a 650W powersupply with standard factory heatsink and fan.

Intel Core i7-920 Processor
Intel X58
Chipset Motherboard
3GB 1333MHz System Memory
NVIDIA
GTX 285 Video Card

I am a complete newbie. I've heard the i7 920 should be overclocked. How difficult would it be for me to do so, and how precisely would I do it (in detail pls)? would the powersupply be enough if I overclocked? do you think this is a good deal for $1750.00 and a powerful computer (I may wait until they have a prebuilt gtx 295, but the same question applies)

thanks!

i just checked the same configuration from digitalstorm and parts from newegg. there seems to be only about a $300 difference (less if you include the cost of bbest buy guys creating my comp). maybe i will go with them. any other good companies that might be a bit cheaper but just as reliable?

Currently, the gtx295 is about $499 and the i7 920 is about $300. How soon do you think these will go down in price and by how much? when are the newest graphics cards and new i7s coming out which will bring these prices down?

I was thinking about buying a comp in april--do you think they will be much cheaper by then?

also dell seems ridiculously expensive. digital storm seems to be HIGHLY reliable but still a bit expensive. are ibuypower or cyberpowerpc (which are much cheaper) reliable? i've heard mixed reviews.

i've also thought about buying the parts at newegg and having the geeksquad at best buys build it for about $120. I will NOT build one myself. is that the better way to go? thanks

so sadly, we have to wait an entire freakin year (Q4) to get one of these graphics cards?! then another 3-4 months to wait for the price to come down? (I assume it will come out at around five hundred dollars like the gtx295?) that's really depressing, as I'd like to buy a new i7 920 computer in the next several months! i assume i can buy the i7 920 and the gtx 295 now, then buy a gt300 1.5 years from now without having to buy anything else like a new motherboard, type of memory, etc??thanks
