They need to build some sort of social space with a familiar setting within the Star Wars universe where gamers can congregate and buy non game changing content. Tell me it wouldn't be cool to do like what Destiny does and hang out in Mos Eisley, buy faction branded content like your personal Xbox avatar accessories or themes and graphics for your console UI etc... there are so many things they can do if they just think outside the box to make things more exciting and interactive all while financing further free updates to all.
Its a shame EA screwed this up. The goal was to help finance all the free post launch maps, hero's and campaign missions that were planned. If they dont figure out a way to get these pay features back in, future support will suffer.
Damn this article is old. Could advise to research HDR TV's since not all "HDR" TV's actually display full color gamut HDR properly but instead only accept an HDR signal. Too many HDR TV's on the market right now that barely show any difference between it and SDR, funny how they called out OLED though since that is still the superior quality picture...
@Shelledfade1: The games are already in pieces. Campaign players (mostly) don't want the multiplayer components because it's already proven that it hurts the campaign quality and also adds unneeded bloat to the data size. Multiplayer kids hate campaigns because they have no attention spans and don't play them because heaven forbid you not play with a group of people for more than a minute. I say all games that have a menu where you have to select one type of game or the other need simply be sold separately at a discount or as a bundle if you want both. The current state of gaming could not have been predicted 15 years ago when things started going downhill when Microsoft started charging gamers for a second internet access when Live launched.
Either make your online component a separate free add on and implement all the monetization measures you want or leave them out completely when charging full price. Very simple, basic rule right there. All these devs are doing is proving time and time again that online multiplayer games need to be completely separate, independent packs from the story campaigns. They must sell the campaign at a fair price then offer online for free or in a bundle with everything already included with no extra cost.
I can see how people would be upset to grind for the best hero's. I played a few matches last night and I didn't really see a problem that would make me want to boycott. The real problem for me is not getting to choose the map. Between the pre-release for EA Access members and last night, I've only played on Tattoine and Starkiller base. I assume there are others but I haven't seen them yet. To me that is the bigger problem than if you can play as Luke Skywalker for a single match or not.
