All RAM have settings that will be used for first boot up. After that, if you want to them to run at rated speeds you have to go into the BIOS.

The settings that use for first boot up are meant so that the RAM can be used in any motherboard without causing problems during first boot up or installation.

Also, NEVER OC before you've even installed the OS. It can cause problems during installation that can manifest themselves when your using Windows. Doing this usually causes you to have to reinstall the OS from scratch.

DX10 on XP is a gimmick, it really isn't DX10 as far as I am aware. If you want DX10 or even DX11 you can go download Windows 7 which will give you about a year of free usage before it starts shutting itself off.

about 2 weeks ago i bought a gtx 260 and i was about to buy a 600 watt.. but a worker came up to me and suggested to up the watts a bit.. just because that is the required wattage... he says if the video card is running at 100% for most of its play (playing crysis on very high or something) then the video card will have a shorter life expectancy.. . it could be bull but i got a 610watt (i believe) just for the little extra... he said that will do fine........... he might have been BSA and just wanted me to pay an extra 15$.. i dunnoStealthKnife

How often do you play Crysis though? Play it 24/7 365? Then don't worry about it

GTS 260 at maximum power draw, as I stated earlier is 182 wats are 15.16 amps. Most 600w PSUs are going to have available 40 Amps are more on the +12v rails.

If your running max draw on a GTX 260 on the PSU in OP, you'd be drawing 36% of the available AMPs.

From what I can tell from FallOut 3, all the vehicles you see on the roads and such are actually powered by mini-nuclear power stations located in the rear(?) of the car.

Would an EMP blast effect something like that?

The proper settings for the RAM are in the Specifications tab on the right.

The RAM runs at DDR3-1600, it'll probably be downclocked to DDR3-1333 or 1066 when you first turn on your PC.

The timings run at 7-7-7-19 at 1.9v.

http://usa.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=0AvsBb7WBZe2i9zK

Click the download tab, select any OS, click the expand button next to Manual, download the manual.

In the english manual, it's page 2-10. This is where you will change all these settings.

On page 2-11, in the english manual, it shows the RAM settings that can be changed.

You'll set,

DRAM Frequency to 1600

Memory Overvoltage to 1.9v

Now DRAM Timing/Configuration

TCL - 7
TCRD - 7
TRP - 7
TRAS - 19
Everything else auto.

All of this will be found under the Advanced tab in the BIOS in the submenu JumperFree Configuration.

This is also where you will do CPU overclocking if you want to do that.

Yes, I was running a 4890 OC 1 gb( which is a power hog = 392 watts at max) and I had a 500 watt gamexstream and it was working flawlessly. Personally go with a Power and cooling or a Corsair (made by the same compony and are equal in quality because each brand just rebadges)

King-Saddam

Max power draw for a stock 4890 is about 190w.... No way your 4890 is drawing more then 250w OC'd.

Okay..... that just tells me it can keep itself within 12v....

In relation to your last post, sorry about that. I thought I had read paired 4850s, you said a 4850 paired with. Sometimes my brain sees things differently then from what they are.

Well, if that is the case then, there shouldn't be a problem at all....

Make sure everything is mounted correctly? Make sure the PCI-E speed is correct in the BIOS?

The PCI-E frequency is supposed to 100MHz. Anything more can cause damage to the video card and hard drives.

Okay, first of all. The manual for that power supply sucks....

According to the manual...

The 20+4-Pin is +12v1

8-Pin CPU Power is +12v2/+12v3

6-Pin PCI-E is +12v3/+12v4

8-Pin PCI-E is +12v3/+12v4

It doesn't say which rail the PCI-E cables are on.

But according to the chart they have. It would seem that both the 6-Pin and 8-Pin are on the same +12v Rail because they suggest you make sure that both cables are on the same +12v rail for your GPU. So I would assume they would put both the 6-pin and 8-pin on the same rail. Meaning your having to split 18a between two video cards.

What power supply do you have?
