My fat 60g died today :( (yup, the original) I'm getting the flashing red light. I know it's the PS3 and not the drive because I moved the drive to my other PS3 and it came on just fine.
Question: I was thinking of just buying the SLIM and putting my hard drive in that box. When you boot up, however, it will try to "Format" the drive. Not sure if this is a format in the traditional sense of the word. Will my home videos and downloaded games still be accessible after the "format" or will I lose everything?

I don't think that's a laser... I think it's the bullet hole. (Still hot from just being fired)
My console is in the shop for the first time. It lived for 1 year and 2 months. I knew it was coming because, just about everyone I know had their Xbox 360 break on them as well. I highly doubt the failure rate is only 5-7 %. Some people I know are on their 4th+ Xbox 360, and trust me they don't stack it in with books etc. 0.05x0.05x0.05x0.05= 0.00625
So 0.625 chance I would know 1 person who's xbox has broken more then 4 times, I know 4. I smell something fishy

 I just had my FOURTH 360 die on me yesterday. I went to show Gears to a friend who was thinking of getting a 360 and got the ring of death. It sits next to my wii and PS3 (so no flaming please), and gets PLENTY of ventilation. When it died, I wasn't even shocked. Given time to think about it though, I'm pretty ticked. The 360 is a piece of crap when it comes to design. Great games, terrible faulty design. How M$ hasn't been sued to bankrupcy by now I'll never know.
Yea, because 360 has a huge RPG market that would tottally justify a costly port of 2 next gen games.

If they can put that game on a DVD-ROM after claiming it's going to need a few Blu-Rays then more power to them. I'm off this exclusive tip. As long as Sony does their part in making PS3 what PS2 and PS1 were, I'm happy. I could care less what games come out for what so long as I get to play em on my PS3. Same here man. Personally, I would rather it stay exclusive... to sell more consoles if nothing else. If it DOES go multiplat, I will still pick up the BluRay version, lol.

final fantasy XIII will not go to the 360... a diffeent FF may Gamecube's Crystale Chronicals... but not XIII If it can happen to DMC4, it can happen to any title. That is the Dumbest thing said today on these fourms... Please enlighten me. Did you think for a second that one of Sony's biggest flagship titles since PS1 was going to 360 this year? Yes it did when Capcom annoucced before Christmas that they were going to move IPs to multiplatfourm when the new CEO took over after they were bleed profits... the only ting we did not know was which games...
