It doesn't matter if the game has been out for a while. Especially in Oblivion's case... it runs better than either of the two original releases and includes content that neither of those releases included. So if the two originals deserved a 9, this one deserves one as well.... not everyone with a PS3 has played the other two versions so it should be judged on its own merit.

Furthermore, R:FOM and VF5 deserved 9's based on their own merit anyway and there are plenty of other review sites that agree. I'm not sure that MotorStorm deserved AAA, but it definitely deserved at least an 8.5. GS reviews are pretty suspect.

GS doesn't seem to ever blantely throw out a bad PS3 review, just always lower end. Which would be fine, if they rated all games tougher, but the majority of 360 games they rate higher than average. Since I always use metacritic, I compared the 3 highest rating titles on the 360

Gears: GS 9.6, Meta 9.4: Difference +.2
Oblivians: GS 96, Meta 9.4: +.2
GR:AW: GS 92, Meta 9.0: +.2

Now, there are exceptions (Crackdown), but for the most part, they rate X360 games HIGHER than the average. And we already know they rate Sony's games lower:

Motorstorm: GS 79, Meta 8.6: -.7
Resistance: GS 86, Meta 8.7: -.1
Virtua Figher: GS 81, Meta 87: -.6

For me, its not just one review that's out of place - they're all in the region of reason. It's just that over and over they rate 360 games high, and PS3 games low. I don't post this in a "fanboy" sort of way, just in a disappointment sort of way. I would love to be able to trust their reviews as I have in the past, but after the PD:Z debacle, and this continued trend, I tend to not only put metacritic's scores above GS, but just about any review above GS's.
