@GlinTrue LOL "The skill system in diablo 2 was great. It set noobs apart from real players and you learned from your mistakes." ... YOu mean it set apart those who searched the web for strong builds from those who didn't???
I think a lot of you were expecting something else... That shiny game that would come along and make your sad lives feel like they are worth living again.
D3 is awesome, semi-mindless fun. It's endless fighting at looting to cap off a long day. It looks great, plays (almost) perfectly and the harder modes are challenging.
D3 is not an epic story a la Skyrim or Dragon Age. D3 is not an MMO a la WoW. You don't get a deep, twisting plot that revolves around user choice. You don't get options to make your character's hair purple with pink highlights. What you do get is awesome action, significant challenge and endless loot in a thoroughly polished game. If that wasn't what you were after, then you are STUPID because you bought the wrong game.
@Corpsgasm QQ. Game was up most of the time in the first 48. Game was not hacked. "Cartoony" graphics work FAR better than realistic graphics in an RPG.
@Azn_Dragun You obviously like Diablo 2, but you complain that D3 is "cartoony"??? Just about everything you listed in dislikes makes it sound like you'd prefer D2. So go play D2?
Do you find it surprising that people skip the dialogue in public games? Do you really want to hear it... AGAIN? If it's your first time through, and you want to hear the whole story, play SOLO. Genius.
30 second CD on pots was one of the BEST CHANGES. D2 was a potion spam-fest. D3 requires skill because you can't potion spam. It's hard to believe someone could have so little perspective. Ugh... just shut up and go play D2 for 12 more years.
Also, the thing about weapons - weapon DPS is an important stat for melee in just about every game. It's also important for caster DPS in WoW. This is not such a stretch. Dumb review.
I'm so sick of hearing about the "problems" of having to be online for single player.
First of all, it results in awesome coop.
Second of all, it prevents CHEATING, which makes your achievements actually feel like achievements, because when you show them to your friends no one will accuse you of cheating.
Third of all, half of the people whining about it are doing so because they wanted to download it for free. I'm sick of paying so that you scrubs can enjoy games for free. If you can't afford the game, you can't afford the game. There is no excuse for theft.
Giving the game 8.5 because of soon-after-launch intermittent connection issues is just about as obtuse as rating League of Legends a 6.0 because it was still in open-beta form when they reviewed it. Gamespot is really losing a lot of credit in my eyes. By reference, IGN gave D3 9.5...
The fans are lined up but the forums are abuzz with doubters... At the end of the day, the size of the first group matters infinitely more than the second.
@ED0511 You could play for a thousand hours and never interact with the store. In D2, there are a HUGE black market for items and gold. It turned out the same, but this time at least Blizzard has control over it... You're naivety is shocking.
