20 D. Coulthard Red Bull 1:33.151
21 A. Sutil Spyker F1 1:34.500
22 M. Winkelhock Spyker F1 1:36.940

POINTS OF DISCUSSION THIS WEEKEND:

  1. With McLaren's hearing looming, will they lose focus on this weekend or can they pull it together to bring the fight back to Ferrari?
  2. How long do you think it will take now for Renault to catch up with BMW? Only once have they outscored BMW this year (USA, Renault 4 pts - BMW 1 pt), but can the World Champions beat BMW by the end?
  3. Markus WinkelhockStarts his first GP this weekend, replacing the dropped Christijan Albers - How will he perform, and can he keep the seat for the rest of the year?
  4. Providing no punishment is placed on the McLaren Drivers, who do you feel is heading to be World Champion of 2007?

Markus Winkelhock will take the vacant Spyker seat for this weekend's European Grand Prix, but the drive remains available for the remainder of the 2007 season.

Last week Spyker dropped Christijan Albers due to sponsorship problems, although the Dutch racer had also struggled to match rookie team-mate Adrian Sutil this season and had made a number of errors.

Scuderia Toro Rosso team principal Franz Tost has again insisted that the team is not for sale, despite persistent rumours that new owners are being sought to ease the burden on Red Bull.

The speculation continues to surface as the team struggles to make the most of its 'RB3-Ferrari' package, but Tost has dismissed it amid claims that the team is improving - and knows what it needs to address to improve yet further.

I know that we all may support different teams. i know i support McLaren and Williams, but i do think something suspicous is going on and the FIA need to get to the bottom of it ASAP. as the end of the season will start to draw near the tension will get worse.

For the sake of F1 i hope this matter gets sorted out soon

Nick Heidfeld reckons that BMW will soon be in a position to match the top teams at every race.

The German says the squad's expansion plans will allow it to not just snap at the heels of Ferrari and McLaren, but to race them head to head.

"We already had a good group of people on board, but now we also have the resources of a leading team," said Heidfeld.

"We've brought in 150 new people at our Hinwil base, the wind tunnel is in use around the clock, we are better equipped at the race track, and a programme of expansion is under way at the factory in Hinwil.

"It's something of a building site at the moment, but the work will be completed by the end of the year."

BMW immediately established itself as Formula 1's third-fastest team at the start of 2007 - an even better performance that Heidfeld had anticipated.

"We have exceeded expectations," he admitted.

"I was sure that we would step up a level in our second season on the grid.

"Having said that, we finished fifth in the constructors' standings last year - 50 points off fourth place - and there was no way I could have expected us to be the third-best team already."

Last season was a transitional year for BMW as it began to turn the former Sauber squad into a fully-fledged works team.

Given how quickly that programme has proceeded, Heidfeld has no doubt that BMW will rapidly become a contender for victories and championships.

"I hope it's just a matter of time," Heidfeld said.

"The F1.07 is, in effect, the first genuine BMW Sauber.

"Even more experience and resources will go into next year's car.

"We are heading in a positive direction.

"This team has given me the big chance I have been waiting for for such a long time."

I fully agree, it don't matter what team you may support, the truth will come out. so we have to sit tight and wait for it.
